God damnit, I was was seriousposting. I'll just include that below:

Factoriopost: If it is not extremely close to the base, then train as you will almost certainly need more oil later so you got to set that shit up anyway.

Seriouspost: If the goal is to move oil, then pipelines don't require burning even more fossil fuels, have less spills per unit moved, and are much cheaper per unit moved.

In the video he makes the point that we shouldn’t be making it cheaper to take oil out of the ground.

But if you build more train infrastructure maybe it can make the cost low enough to convert some shipping by truck to train?
