This is all very vibes of the initial failure of Russia to take Kiev. Also the fact that they're media blacking out the damage... If Iran just war of attritions them with a few cheap drones constantly for months... They do have a sugar daddy in their vassal state, America, but China controls all the upstream inputs, and America has already blown a lot of its load in Ukraine.
