"It was found during a follow-up investigation with the reverend that Kristin Spearman pursuant to the scheme of obtaining a marriage certificate, convinced the reverend to certify the victim and Kristin in the Holy Union of Matrimony without the knowledge of the victim and his required presence," the release reportedly said.

Spearman then allegedly took the certified license to the county clerk's office, where it was filed as a "certificate of official marriage."

None of that implies that it’s because of any influence she has on the situation, much less the fanfic that was written about her getting half his stuff.

Ok. So, what does the law say about trying to legally annul a marriage based on fraud? Because I would assume this is a pretty rare case, that doesn't have a lot of case-law to fall back on.

A contract based ln fraud is always nullified. Isn’t marriage a contract?

I would assume so. But with that in mind, fraud would have to be proven in order to nullify it...which means he may have to wait for her to be convicted before that can happen. I have no doubt he won't be on the hook for anything in the end, but I imagine it isn't as simple as just getting it annulled. Even a regular annulment can be contested, and fought in court. This would probably end up being even more complicated.
