I've found that the best way to cope as an Oilers fan is to be less emotionally invested, and more be curious about how things are going conceptually. Oh nice, we won! Or we lost, that's too bad.
Any stronger emotional commitment is just not advisable, until the team makes consistent, committed effort a part of their identity.
Careful, you might err the other way and get your hopes up for a cup after the Presidents trophy for best regular season of all time just to watch them bounce out in the first round.
May still be a bit salty about Marchand missing the breakaway that year but scoring this series, in a dirty Floridaman jersey no less
