Any DIY U-lock mount ideas? (hexbear.net)

A while back, my u-lock's plastic mount broke while I was riding my bike, sending the lock straight into the pavement. The impact broke off the hard plastic/rubber bit on the lock itself that slots into the mount so I can't even get a cheap replacement mount from China.

For over a year I've hooked the lock onto one of the shoulder straps on my backpack but I noticed the added weight and stress of a heavy piece of metal dangling off the strap has caused the stitching to start to rip.

I'm getting tired of lugging this thing around. Doea anyone have any ideas for mounting it back on the frame?

If you've got access to a 3D printer, I would recommend this one: https://www.printables.com/model/300560-universal-u-lock-mount

It's what I use for my ulock. You'll have to measure the diameter of the tube on your bike, there's a few different variations.

That looks to be exactly what I'd need but I don't have 3D printer lying around ooooooooooooooh

I also truly appreciate your offer but given the demographics of hexbear chances are you are in the US and sending something over to Europe would be too annoying and costly for you.

Seems a bunch of local libraries have 3D printers you can book for a tiny fee thonk

I ended up printing one of these at my local library, it works like a charm! Thanks for the tip stalin-approval
