When are gamers going to stop demanding new consoles and start demanding less hardware-intensive games?
We could still just make games for the Switch, but no, gamers demand a new console so Mario has more pixels. π
True Gamers demand realism, something that you probably don't understand. Without Aloy having peach fuzz what would they have to complain about?
The switch gets a lot of odd hate for being "underpowered" i actually saw a thread where people stated that it was weaker than a ps2 like bruh. And no it wasn't a joke it was entirely serious over metal gear solid ports to switch which were definitely not the fault of konami being useless shits. Especially considering the vita ran the games better
Bad hardware with a tightly controlled walled garden being sold at a premium because it's from a huge and extremely shitty entertainment company that buys exclusives and maintains a stranglehold on a handful of stagnating franchises that people still keep buying for some reason is bad, actually. Like all three console manufacturers are terrible, terrible companies, but Nintendo really shows just how shoddy and minimal a minimum viable product can be while still being inexplicably successful.
Iβm literally confused because the Switch is a perfectly fine console and many amazing games can still be made.
βInnovationβ literally for its own sake just leads to waste.
I mean compared to the competition, Nintendo has made lower spec games for lower spec hardware since like twenty years now (or whenever the hell the Wii came out)
I'd say it's less that Nintendo intentionally made lower spec devices, it's that microsoft and Sony decided to make giant loud frankenstein hardware designs.
Come on that just ain't true. The last two generations of consoles have all been extremely "reasonable". Off-the-shelf hardware all on one chip, designed to be profitable to sell from day one at the same price they always tried to sell their consoles at. They are just small computers, exactly where all of hardware tech is at right now. None of them are like the PS3, which actually was a ridiculous overspecced stupid piece of hardware born entirely out of grandeur and delusion.
If you want to criticize these consoles and their makers for continuing to make the exact same games as they've done since the PS3 days, then that's a totally reasonable argument to make, but to me that also doesn't apply to Nintendo. If anything they've been getting the most out of their hardware wherever they go and have been trying to evolve their gameplay with the hardware: BotW could be made on the Wii u, but not on the Wii, TotK could be made on the Switch but not on the WiiU, and it doesn't seem to me like they could have made the new Donkey Kong on the OG Switch.
