See, now this would affect Elon Musk. Vandalizing people's cars that may have been purchased 10 years ago doesn't do anything.
It still does actually, tanking the resale value will dramatically cut into new car sales. Encouraging current owners to sell absolutely does have an affect.
(It also raises insurance premiums for Tesla's, also hurting their market)
That's why people are lighting them on fire at Tesla dealerships.
Violent attacks on Tesla dealerships spike as Musk takes prominent role in Trump White House
If you burn down 10 cars at a tesla factory, doesn't that just mean that they just sold 10 cars because i assume they are insured?
Insurance can (and probably will) increase prices if they're more likely to be vandalized.
And guess who's gonna pay for this in the long run. Musk? Lol. No, the average tesla-worker-joe.
More like tax payers. He'll just get some government handouts
Or those. Doesn't even matter to the fact that he won't.
I think it's fair to say Musk already screws them to the maximum extent possible, so the degree to which they are screwed is probably not responsive to changes in insurance premiums and we can expect that to more or less come straight out of Musk's pocket.
There's always more. And even, in the best case possible, he had to pay solely and completely alone, you really think he'd even notice? In the time I wrote this he made more.
Sounds to me like it's a victimless crime then.
The victims are those who want musk punished. Sadly those beyond 'rich' are basically untouchable. The minute you wrote this, musk made more than the insurance would raise. And even if he would not have, what would happen? If you had a million and I'd rob you of a fraction of a cent, how much would that affect you?
We covered this, it's not the case
You are surely entitled to your opinion. But reality doesn't care.
I was under the impression that the company owner pays for insurance?
I guess they're saying the workers will get lower pay/ no raises because of the increased operational costs.
My best guess would be that the customers will have to deal with higher prices, though.
Both will, but sure as hell not musk. And even if he'd pay 1000x the cost, he wouldn't even notice and still grin at this "rebellion".
Tesla needs to go out of business.
I agree, but I don't think that's gonna happen soon, sadly.
Nah I’d say vandalising existing teslas definitely does something. It drives the narrative that this vehicle is a fucking liability and makes it difficult to ignore. I’m not condoning damaging peoples cars mind you, if it’s an older one they might just be caught in the crossfire. Nevertheless, it’s only a car.
Cybertrucks sure, fair game. Brand new Teslas, same. But I'm sure there's decent folk that can't sell their older Teslas today without taking a big loss...
Most people i "know" who drive teslas are not car guys at all, they don't know anything about the whole musk ordeal, they just bought a tesla because these were the only ev's to buy, other than the bolt and the bmw i3 or the nissan leaf or the little honda. And the tesla, just looking at them was the only one that looked like a "real" car.
I'm against wasting, even if it's a Tesla, but maybe in this case it helps avoid wasting a lot in the future..
