A top rugby official in Fiji was fired within days of being appointed after she spoke of “this gay problem” in women’s national teams.

Laijipa Naulivou resigned as director of rugby before her appointment was cancelled by the Fiji Rugby Union to reinforce a “commitment to upholding professional standards and safeguarding the integrity of Fiji Rugby.”

The FRU added on Wednesday it “categorically rejects any form of discrimination.”

Naulivou, the first captain of the Fiji women’s team, said in an interview published by the Fiji Sun “those who played with me know that I do not condone being gay for women in rugby.”

I know someone who plays women’s rugby at a very high level, and apparently the teams she plays for are all gay as hell - like you’ll also often see in women’s football. If you’d want to get the lesbians out of those sports (which is ridiculous, of course), you better just stop organising it altogether.

I used to party occasionally with the women’s rugby team at my college; one of my roommates was on the men’s team. I’d say at least 75% of the women’s team were gay. Once they realized we were alright and not there to be creeps, it was a real good time. People who play rugby are nuts. The men’s team was actually thrown off campus the year after I graduated for accidentally starting a riot. Ugh, I miss college.

I was sorta thinking this and my wife was in to sports a bit and she is tall and she sorta hates the stereotype thing but admits that the population of lesbians on her teams was significantly higher than the school at large.
