You currently own a GTX 1080/R7 7700 and upgraded to a 4k display, someone was to offer you two gift options:

A: RX 7900XTX and 500€

or a

B: RTX 4090

What would you take and why?

Does anyone know if it will also work on laptops?

Theoretical exercise for a power efficiency afficionado such as myself.

Can you use in a single monitor setup a discrete GPU (for convenience, let's say my RX 6800) strictly for gaming and the integrated GPU of a say Ryzen 7000 series processor for everyday applications (office stuff, browsing, desktop idling etc.).

I have scoured the internet for this and please do correct me if I am wrong, but apparently you can play with power plans and set a plan to use the dGPU and another to use the iGPU and you would just switch between them depending on your needs. But is this a seamless operation, are there any downsides in terms of system stability, driver issues, something else?

*save for video playback (youtube, Netflix) which seems kinda high at around 45 watts, I am satisfied with the power efficiency of my card, but hey, if I can dump less heat in my room worth on average 35-40 watts, in a distant future build, why not do it?

I have tried to search everywhere for an answer to this but I am totally stuck. I have a brand new system that runs every other game flawlessly except for league. I am averaging about 200fps in early game on max settings. However my averages were better on my i9 12900k 3080 system. I upgraded to this because I thought it would be better. I have done a fresh install of league and all AMD drivers a few times, turned off all overlays except mobalytics and just about everything else I could find online. Listed below are my specs.

Specs:

Resolution - 5120x1440

CPU - Ryzen 7950x

GPU - 7900xtx speedster xfx

RAM - 32 Gb 6000mhz in slots 2 and 4

having hard time deciding between 7900x vs 7900 and both at the same price. my question is, can i just get the "x" version and run it similarly as a non x but slightly higher clocks maybe?

the cpu cooler is gonna be the Scythe Fuma 3.

FSR 3 was near behind us, and it's exciting as always, since it's also working on many GPUs,

but there is some detail that I need to clarify regarding the Anti-Lag solution of these features, as well as the Driver level of Frame generation.

  1. Anti-Lag+ only works on RDNA 3, it means only works for those cards? even if you activated FSR 3 in the games it also includes an Anti-lag solution, u can also turn on Anti-Lag+ in the driver too, so stacking the anti-lag? this is unique for me. i need further explanation, RDNA 2 and below only have basic Anti-Lag solutions. the compromise within the generation was about anti-lag
  2. AMD promise to bring hyper-RX with frame generation in the driver level, the problem was the quality of the picture, remember RSR was not as good as implemented FSR.. I got some rumors that FSR 3 super resolution ( not frame generation ) also improved with this new version. since the driver level can't access a motion vector data in the game... how can it be possible?

I know the X3D will give better gaming performance, but the 7950X is faster.

My question is this: if you're going to multistream to TouTube & Twitch, while also screen capturing your game, and playing at max settings at either 4K or 1440p on a MSI Suprim 4090 liquid cooled, which CPU is best? Speed or v cache?

I've been playing arround a lot with these trying to find a good profile for overclock and another one for lower temps. Here are my results.

Room temperature: 24c

Lower Temps profile:

Min Frecuency: 500mhz

Max Frecuency: 2200mhz

Voltage: 700mv

Memory timing: Default

Memory Max frecuency: 2500

Powe limit: -15%

Overclock profile:

Min Frecuency: 2400mhz

Max Frecuency: 3000mhz

Voltage: 1030mv

Memory timing: Default

Memory Max frecuency: 2750

Powe limit: 15%

Note: I don't care about PC noise so i have a custom fan curve for the GPU that goes all the way up

With the games i usually play i haven't encounter any issues so i can say its pretty stable. Here is an example with Control at 3440x1440, max settings and a custom RT setting.

Note: This test was made with a room temperature of 32c. I am from Costa Rica in one the hottest zones.

Low temps profile

All the beans profile

I hope is useful for some of you and any feedback is appreciated

As in title, it will be able to be any better than fsr2 on cards before RT (10xx 9xx)?

Possible user error BTW, but my 5950X TDC maxes out at 114A. It doesn't budge over this even when manually setting the value in BIOS. Even so, with an all core load, the CPU runs at base clock, but retains 60C. While when I use 4-8 workers in P95, the cores that can, boost to 4.45Ghz, but immediately chase down that 95C mark. I know AMD had made statements that this is intended behavior, but over 90C doesn't rest well with me.

It even sets less well with me being that I have a Noctua NH-U12A cooling it.

Any suggestions?

Current PPT/TDC/EDC Settings: 250 160 190
