Idk, I'm on lemm.ee because I tried sh.itjust.works and just never got an email. It is frustrating when it happens

Internet forums are disappearing because now everything is Reddit and Discord. And that's worrying. in c/fediverse@lemmy.world

Forums are still alive in ultra niche communities. My favorites: Badger and Blade for wet shaving, Snuffhouse for snuff tobacco, Quantnet for quantitative finance. All of these gather way better content and users than their Reddit counterpart, which usually devolves into memes and pic of the day stuff

There are lots of reasons to read, so I'm wondering what y'all get out of reading? in c/books@lemmy.world

The biggest reason I started reading more (went from 2-3 books a year to 2 a month) is just to avoid using tech in my free time. I noticed I get way more relaxed in general and have a better attitude towards life if I'm reading more
