Are Lemmy posts discoverable from normal search engines? If not, then it’s about as useful as the information posted in some obscure Discord chat

Yeah, too bad about AvE. If you liked his old stuff, check out SuperfastMatt. Engineering of wild project cars, and the headaches of engineering wild project cars.

Unrelated to AvE, but also ZeFrank for well researched comedy nature videos

There’s so much community knowledge on reddit, it’s kinda painful to see everyone deleting all their historical comments and posts.

I get it, but still that’s information presumably lost forever.

Me too, but mainly because my favorite small subreddits (hobbies and local) just don’t exist here. :(

Or at least I haven’t been able to find them.

Can you recommend one? I’m on MemmyApp currently, and the basic functionality mostly works, but I wouldn’t mind trying other options.

Let’s say the fediverse grows and becomes a useful repository of niche discussion (like reddit is now, arguably)

Is the fediverse searchable from general search engines? If not, won’t all of the collective knowledge here end up nearly as walled in as info on Facebook, Discord, or Instagram?

Effort? Ew, that sounds like effort
