The only privacy setting I can encourage on any social media site is don't share private stuff about yourself and never link to your account from other accounts

Initially I agreed with OP, but while reading the replies I realized that I am wrong. I should not be going to generalized communities expecting specialized posts.

It would be like going to "funny" and only expecting new jokes.

I'll move on and try to find something better aligned with my needs.
