Bernie Fucking Sanders could have been elected to 2 consecutive terms starting in 2016 and the US would still , right now, be a highly capitalist society with fabulously wealthy corporations, and basically the same number of billionaires. Americans just might have more affordable healthcare and education, that's all.
Canada has the same issue. The government of Canada is heavily invested in American-based cloud services. It's a strategic threat.
