I went with xfce because it said it was lighter weight. Switching to cinnamon is easy enough, I only have steam installed so far.

I am downloading Mint xfce currently, was to see how that runs and if it goes well do cinnamon. The laptop has an M.2 SSD, unsure of the capacity, but I am going to guess 512gb.

congrats on having one btw

Coming up on 24 years!

I have Mint xfce downloading already. I figure I would live boot that and let her get a feel for it. Then try Cinnamon or another distro.

My wife has an old Lenovo i5 thinkpad that we would like to use again with linux, before buying a new computer. I was wondering if there is a tool that I can input the model and stats of the device and it will output a few suggested distros for it.

It is the X1 Carbon 20BT with the i5-5300U Processor, it has 8gb ram. https://support.lenovo.com/us/en/solutions/pd100509-overview-for-thinkpad-x1-carbon-type-20bs-20bt

Update: I have installed mint xfce but am downloading cinnamon and switching to that.

$2500 for what seemed to be the low end.

I looked at some bikes last night, way more than I thought I was to be paying for this idea.

She has thermal boots, but even with those I worry at the temps we get when I can feel the heat through my shoes.

I am steering away from an e-bike because in the off season when I can let her run with me, I want the scooter over the bike.

I remember when razr scooters were the thing to have and my kids had them. I loved riding theirs but always wanted a grown up sized one.

But if I am unable to find an escooter, I may go the bike route

I am 250ish, the majority I saw were 265 weight limit. I carry a rather heavy backpack, so even without the dog in the equation I would want something around 300.

Trying to cut down my vehicle usage, however my 75lbs dog comes to work with me every day. I live in an area that is too hot for her to walk with her feet unprotected a significant portion of the year.

I was hoping to convert my niece's old bike trailer into a dog trailer to pull behind. But so far the only two I have found were $1300 and $1500 and it looks like one of them is no longer available.

I ordered a k1 max from keychron today. It was a bit more than I wanted to pay, but it looks to be a good board. This one looks interesting. I have used ergo boards but never a split board.

I recently started to play a crafting mmorpg (bitcraft) and while it runs great on the steam deck, the controls are not great. I have been playing with an old dell usb keyboard and Bluetooth trackball. I would like to find a great Bluetooth keyboard. So many of the wireless keyboards I have looked at require a dongle, which limits my ability to charge unless I use a dock.

I would rather a larger keyboard than a smaller one.
