I am looking for music that you have to listen to, at least once in your life, not for the popularity that the song or the artist may have, because anyone can be popular, but for its transgression in society, either for its sound or its message, an example of message can be the album wall by pink floyd, another example, but referring to the sound, can be the discography of tool, also less known people like dr steel are valid, what counts in the end are the points that I mentioned, the sound and the message. It doesn't matter the musical genre you recommend me, the language either, I can translate it without any problem, although being a spanish speaker, it would be good to emphasize artists that make music in spanish, if you don't know hispanic artists, it's ok, I'll listen to the music you recommend me anyway, I'm waiting for your lists.

I want to attribute credit for resources I am using to create a video, but I am looking for a standard way to do it so that it can look good in plain text, rich text and printed text, for now the attribution I want to do, is for video, audio and software separated by their respective sections.

I was going to use riseup as a cock.li replacement, but then I saw the trouble riseup got into and decided not to use it.

I had the idea of creating an email server in the future, but everyone I told that to told me it was a terrible idea.

For a while now I have been looking for email providers that are transparent and meet EFF standards, and in fact, I went to the EFF website to see if there was an article about email providers, but found nothing, the only decent providers I could find on my own, have been tutanota and cock.li, I am currently using tutanota and was planning to move everything to cock. li, but unfortunately it hasn't been going through its best moment, I would stay with tutanota if it wasn't for one thing, and that is that it can't be used inside thunderbird, there is a plugin that allows you to open a window with tutanota, but that's not the idea, ideally you would be able to add your email address without any external plugin, and that is why I am asking for recommendations that meet the standards mentioned above, but that is also compatible with thunderbird to be able to save the emails locally, any client can download the emails to be able to have them locally, but that is the one I use personally.

Peertube.tv does not allow new user registration.

I have been looking for instances of peertube, but some of them do not have registration enabled or only support a specific type of videos (For example, technology), I want an instance where you can register and that is not limited by a specific theme for the videos.

They are email addresses that I have to memorize, they are not temporary.

There is the diceware method to make passwords random and strong to crack. But is it advisable to use this method to make random names for email addresses? That is the concern I have, when a person makes a random email address, they inevitably introduce things with which they can be identified, breaking the previously stated randomness, what ways are there to avoid this?

I don't have any advice, but there is something I can say. Next generation UE, investigate it

There are places like internet archive that preserve things like videos, images, audios, books and programs, but I have not seen any website that preserves only cooking recipes, do you know of any?

I had mentioned 12 monkeys and primer because it has a similar style to memento despite having different environment, one that I forgot to mention was donnie darko, these movies have an unconventional narrative and endings, these characters are in a much bigger situation than they can measure, but for those who were not involved that never happened, since they never saw what happened from start to finish, when one of these movies ends, you know that it was not a happy, sad or neutral ending, which what happened there was something else

Most of these movies are called psychological movies, but searching under this category I have not found anything that comes close to what I am looking for, movies like memento, 12 monkeys and primer are characterized by something, a person who knows information (Be good or bad), and is in a situation isolated from the rest of the population, no one other than the protagonist or a very small group of people knows what is happening and what it implies, that is the type of movies I am looking for, movies with isolated stories, if you know of any movie that makes you feel that I don't know what it is with the 3 movies I mentioned, please leave me the name and synopsis. (I had forgotten to mention donnie darko)

Although it has nothing to do with what I'm looking for, I would like to see the comics you mention anyway

At first, I wasn't going to mention snow crash, since it doesn't have much to do with it, but I made the mention to make room for stories that don't have much to do with free software, but have things that can be related to philosophy, an example of this could be right to read, of course, ignoring the author's notes

I am looking for works about free software or based on this philosophy, there are books like "Free software for a free society" and documentaries like "Linux code", but I would like to know what other works there are related to free software and this philosophy, there are things like snow crash, which talks about the decentralization of the internet from a fictional and futuristic story, these types of works are also valid.

I'm looking for alternatives to wii backup manager, what do you recommend?

[–] manito_manopla@lemmy.ml 1 points 9 months ago (1 children)

Something like that I was looking for, not exactly a collection of ISOs, but a live iso that had several tools to make a diagnosis, rescue files, and do a malware analysis. Because there is malware that can hide at system startup. Already a conventional antivirus can make it very difficult to detect it.

Within the GNU/Linux ecosystem there are all kinds of tools to diagnose the system, or rather, to check the state of the hardware, but there are few distributions specifically designed to perform this task, or at least that I know of, because the only distribution I know that is intended to diagnose the computer, (Or at least one of the components), is memtest86+, so I would like to know what other distributions exist in addition to the one mentioned above

I've been using i3 for a while now, but the xfce power manager doesn't work outside the desktop environment, is there any alternative you can recommend? It doesn't matter if it is a terminal based or graphical interface program, I just need something that can suspend the computer after a certain time or lock it when the laptop is closed
