They do that, and r/startrek dies. It'll be a hellscape and nobody will want to go there anymore.

One thing you hear sometimes is that they only really contact people once they have FTL because then it becomes impossible to just ignore them.
Which raises the question, is ignoring people's plight something you want to do? I guess its a trolley problem. It also sounds kinda imperialistic.
The zoo hypothesis is even more imperialistic. A civilization should have some rights regardless of whether it has FTL.
But the core point of not being imposing is noble.

I actually made a VHF antenna awhile back, with the exact size to optimally receive the station that this is on here. Completely coincidental. I should go set it up again.

I kinda wish there was a way to, say, use a mastodon account from another server on here.
Say, you could have a page on here, probably on the login page, where you can tell it "I want to use an account on another server", it redirects you to the other server which asks if you want to give permission, and you click yeah and then you're logged in on startrek.website using a mastodon account or whatever. Would be kinda cool, but it would need to be implemented properly and securely, which I am not capable of.
It feels like things are much worse now than they were even the other day.
I don't want this place to die. I don't want to have to bow down to idiotic dictators for the rest of my life.
