Just wanted to personally thank some of the folks whose feedback was a massive help in the latest cancateat.food update.

In no particular order, a huge thank you to: @unmagical @Australis13 @hedgehog @Cactopuses @.Donuts

Your ideas were fantastic! And to everyone who has supported the project, thank you so much. It honestly means a lot. You guys are the best!

cat tax first

Hey everyone,

It’s me again – the person with the two ridiculously hungry cats, Candy and Poppy.

First off, I just wanted to say a massive thank you. A while back, I shared my little side project, cancateat.food, and I was honestly blown away by how many of you checked it out and gave me such smart feedback. It was genuinely awesome.

I basically treated all your comments as a to-do list, and I've been tinkering away ever since. I’m pretty excited to share what I've been up to, all thanks to you:

So, about plants... A ton of you pointed out, "What about plants?! My cat tries to eat my ferns!" and you were totally right. It was a blind spot. So, I buckled down and managed to add over 1,000 plants to the database, most with pictures. Hopefully this helps when you spot them chewing on something they shouldn’t.

Food Search

Food Detail

"What if it's not on the list?" Another brilliant idea you had. I've now added a "Food Request" button in the corner. If you search for something and I don't have it, just click that, pop it into the sheet, and I'll get it researched and added. It’s our way of building this thing together.

Food Request

And yeah, I fixed the clunky stuff. Remember that annoying extra click you had to do after searching? It’s gone. I smoothed out a bunch of other little things you guys pointed out. Thanks for the honest feedback on that!

I just want to repeat that this is still my little project, born from a moment of panic in my kitchen. It's for us. So, it's still 100% free, with no ads, no sign-ups, and no creepy tracking. Just a tool from one cat person to another.

Anyway, I’d love for you to take another look and tell me what you think. I hope it’s even more useful now.

Whoa, thanks for the love and for this awesome idea! You're totally right, jumping straight to the page would be SO much faster.

Honestly, it's such a good call that I'm already on it. I'll get an update pushed out with this change within the next week. Thanks again, man! πŸ™

Awesome feedback, thanks for pointing that out! I'm actually working on a 'suggest a food' feature right now and it should be live within a week.

Btw, cooked chickpeas are safe in moderation! Thanks for the help! πŸ™Œ

Wow, thanks so much for this detailed response! You really know your stuffβ€”you must be a seasoned cat expert.

You're absolutely right about the risk with outdoor plants. That's a great suggestion, and I'll definitely work on adding more plant data.

Please, if any other foods come to mind, just drop another comment here. I see every reply and I'm always updating the site. I really appreciate you helping me make the tool better! 😘

Awesome, thanks so much for the suggestion! This food is now on my radar. I'm constantly updating the database, so I hope to have it added for you soon!

oh, i will check it out and fix, thanks for your advice 😘

Hey everyone from !cats,

This is my cat, Candy. A while ago, she looked up at me with those big, pleading eyes while I was in the kitchen, and the question immediately popped into my head: "Can she eat this?"

My other fat cat, Poppy, is just as badβ€”he's always eating random stuff.

I found myself frantically Googling, only to find stressful and conflicting information. I figured I couldn't be the only one.

So, I decided to build cancateat.food. I want to be clear from the start: this is purely a passion project. My only goal is to create something genuinely helpful for our fellow cat lovers when they face that moment of doubt.

The site is a simple tool to give you instant, reliable answers on food safety. Here's what it offers:

A Growing Database: It has nearly 200 foods (and counting!), with info cross-referenced from authoritative sources like the ASPCA.

Clear Safety Ratings: βœ… Safe, ⚠️ Use Caution, or ❌ Dangerous.

NEW - In-depth Blog: I've also just launched a blog for more detailed articles. The first post is live, and I'll be updating it frequently.

Built for the Community, 100% Free: I want to emphasize this point. The site is, and always will be, completely free for everyone. There are no ads, no premium features, no sign-ups, and no data tracking. It’s just a tool built out of love, to help.

Ultimately, I'm not trying to sell anything. I just wanted to use my skills to give back to the community that loves cats as much as I do.

I'd be thrilled to hear any feedback or suggestions you might have.

To respect the community rules, I've put the link to the website in the comments below.

Thanks for your time! Hope this can help someone here. 🐾

He is a blue cat who absolutely loves durian!! He's a big, chonky boy, already tipping the scales at nearly 22 pounds (almost 10 kg).

A few days ago, I got my first cat in my life, and my heart has been full ever since. His name is Candy.

I can't quite describe the pure happiness of just having him here. Hearing him purr for the first time was the most incredible sound, and seeing his tiny face when I wake up just makes my whole day. It's a quiet, wonderful kind of joy. I finally have a cat, and I've never been happier.
