I wish this was just fear mongering or something from a science fiction novel, but it's from an official Canadian federal government report. in c/canada@lemmy.ca

Where does this "official government report" link anything to liberal spending or government spending at all for that matter? It doesn't and I don't see how you are making that connection.

The term to search for is "captive thumbscrew". The captive part being the unthreaded portion which allows the screw to rotate freely in the panel hole. These will tend to be longer than normal thumbscrews you account for the unthreaded part.
