FUCK no. At least it's coming from truss, who is trying to be relevant. That's all. Anything with her name on it is doomed to fail.

Well, the design of the plug also implies the design of the socket. I was born in the eighties, and I've never seen an electrical socket without a switch, except for the appliance socket used for the cooker, which is behind where you install the appliance - the switch is higher up, above the countertop where it is accessible.

Basic extension trailing sockets don't, most of the time unless you buy a snazzy one. But it's by no means a recent development.

Tom Scott has a video all about the UK power outlet plug and socket and it's an engineering marvel. The switch is just one feature.

There's a replevin for when debtors won't comply. It's like a warrant. I don't like it any more than the next guy but if we buy cars on finance, the dealer or bank owns the car until we've paid our loan off. Hiding it from them is technically stolen property. A lien holder's legal right to a repo order is a literally a signed tenet of the loan agreement.

Not a problem that needs to be solved with technology, there's already the long arm of the law. Capitalism! 👍

Maybe nothing. It was dormant for years. When they wired it up they ruined its ability to ever rotate ever again. St John's Precinct had gone to shit and they have no money, so unless they can funnel their ridiculous cash cow of a car park into fixing it up and putting a restaurant back in there, I can't see anything happening in it.

There was a rumour about it being turned into a Weatherspoon's. I hope not.

I did the gallery tour last time I was there. That was nice. Maybe the owner can continue to operate tours, it could remain quite lucrative in the tourism season. Liverpool has no shortage of visitors. Just keep maintaining the lifts and it will take care of itself.

Yep, same with the-shitty ass Kaiser Permanente app, which itself is just a webview wrapper around the crappy kp.org website. I cannot screenshot my test results, or any other screen within the app, but I can go to the same-ass page in my browser and take my screenshot from the website.

You weren't there, man...

When we used reddit, and you found a link on Google or in an email that went to reddit.com, it would open up that link in Boost. Same for the email notifications when you got an inbox message or a comment reply - following the link opened up your inbox in Boost, not your web browser.

Since there are an almost infinite number of instances to match the URL for, is this behaviour just not possible with Lemmy, by the nature of the fediverse?

I think I remember Android having a manual option to set default apps for certain links, so I'm going to try and set Boost the default app for links starting with my home instance. Not sure if Boost will necessarily understand the links though and how to process it..

What if reddit joins the fediverse? What are the implications for that if it were even feasible? We would end up with subreddits as communities on Lemmy such as !askreddit@reddit.com, perhaps.

What are the community's thoughts on this, given the new app by Meta that has attempted to join our free society? Do we just defed, and hope that all the popular instances all do the same?
