I'm always really interested, that's my life.

Rasism is naturally present in people's psyche. People always needed to protect their ingroup againts the other groups of people. It's a sad fact that so many people are not able to control their monkey brains better. We know it's possible. I'll never give up waiting for my Star Trek utopia.

I think they mainly have the one information we all have - that the US has turned on them.

Well, there were many repeatedly challenged theories in science history that became mainstream later. This is not my field of study, so I can't judge the quality of their work, but I wouldn't ignore it just because of it being challenged. Do you have more insight? Is it obviously ridiculous or something?

If there are close ties between the rulers and the criminals, that’s ~~unfortunate~~ admirable. FIFY

And spreading in South America.

It is. And I think the best approach is to decide to ask different kinds of questions ;)

When we were young, the world was still on track. We'd never dare to be this audacious, to vandalize the language and soil the academic dignity and precision. The new generations are lost.

Getting the joke is not necessary for understanding the article and even the title has the explanatory other half, right? The joke is just a bonus, not gatekeeping.

Or they might be just a sign of playfulness. They can present a barrier for those who don't know, but I doubt it's intentional, so I wouldn't call it gatekeeping.

Also, it's just a playful first half of the title. The other half explains the important stuf in a traditional way, so noone gets harmed, right?

This is confusing. Who DESERVES anyone? What makes someone deserve someone? How do you judge someone's worth?

And how do you answer such question without the answer being indicative mainly of the person's self-esteem? Should only people who value themselves highly be dating?

No, that's bullshit. You have just the one life and it's going to feel like it was short. Do what you can with your time here. Do what you enjoy. The window for finding romantic relationships is short in some cases (depends on individual hormone level development), so if you feel like it, go for it!

I just started watching Discovery season 3. I was quite traumatized by the low quality of s02, but I decided to give season 3 a chance because I like most of the characters. Now comes the point. I do like Saru a lot nowadays, but at first I was put off a bit by his treatment of the tardigrade. Did any of you mind his lack of empathy for the animal? Or were you alright with him treating the creature as a resource without thinking twice? It feels kind of wrong to me when his own nation is treated as a resource on his home planet.

I'm using Firefox on an Android phone to view Lemmy. When I click a post at the second page of posts and go back after reading, it takes me to the first page of posts. Am I doing something wrong?

Why YSK: I use the web version of Lemmy both on desktop and mobile. By going directly to the 2nd page of posts, I get rid of both the neverending stream of new posts and of the same old posts that keep sticking to the 1st page. It works for all the filters: active, hot... No need to scroll down, just change the number in the end of the URL from 1 to 2 and save it to favourites or whatever.
