I don't know why my brain has chosen to retain this information, but this was the Baltimore meetup if I am remembering correctly.

Every service and site had their own malicious toolbar they'd ask you to install and / or* sneak it into the install for other software. They also came loaded with malware and or siphoned data from you. Older/more tech illiterate people would have browsers looking like the picture above and come to you wondering why their computer is so slow or why they keep getting viruses.

In what world is the Chinese government shadier than the current crop of American tech CEOS and oligarchs? Not to mention the direct and immediate danger they pose to us with our data vs a country on the other side of the planet. I don't like or use Deepseek personally, but this argument you're making is currently insane.

Yes, the sidekick LX was the perfect phone, it's too bad they shit the bed when they tried to bring it back with Android.

As far as androids with keyboards, the Moto Droid and the HTC G2 really hit the sweet spot. They are tiny little things though compared to current flagships.

Borders are made up, a person can't be illegal. Texas and the whole south west used to be part of Mexico, The US took it and it decided all non whites are illegal, but you still have to be a fool to believe it.

It's not the 4th largest economy in the world, but it does contain 11% of the Earth's habitable land. It would be sad if they couldn't create a large economy with all that land.

Nikolai Patrushev, aid to Putin, has accused the U.S. and the U.K. of intending to sabotage underwater internet cables and planning to destabilize the maritime energy trade.

Citing U.S. officials, CNN reported in September that Russia was developing a sabotage unit with submarines and drones to target underwater infrastructure by order of the defense ministry's Main Directorate for Deep- Sea Research (GUGI).

A Swedish investigation found evidence of sabotage on the pipelines between Russia and Germany. Moscow had initially accused the U.S. Probes by Sweden and Denmark were closed in February 2024 without identifying those responsible, although a German investigation is ongoing.

Media in Norway have reported concerns at the presence in the last few weeks of the Russian intelligence ship Yantar in international waters alongside its coast near critical seabed infrastructure such as oil and gas pipelines and cables for internet and telecommunications.
