This should be a thing. Every time something horrific happens it needs to be labeled as "Trump's America."
And I don't mean things like natural disasters. Increases in hate, poverty, brutality. Things that Trump stands for and causes.
I agree with what you are saying. I just thought of the article as more of an entry point. It's not aimed at you. You obviously know what the manoshpere is and have taken the time to learn more.
The article seems like a good starting point for those who don't know. Hopefully, the parents of preteens who have never heard of the manoshpere will pick this up, start learning what it is their kids have been listening to, and put a stop to it.
They passively call out that it's been building for years, but give no real history. Seems to me like they were more trying to say how mainstream it's become. Gamer gate is important to how we got here, but not that widely known about, even when it happened. Everyone knows Joe Rogan.
Either way, larger news outlets like NBC reporting on this is a good thing, even if they are a little late to the party.

Since you didn't mention it, you might enjoy "Wheel of Time" by Robert Jordan. Great world building and a unique magic system. Sadly, Jordan passed away before he could finish it, but it was finished by Sanderson. His ending is why I first started reading cosmere.
The president can only pardon federal crimes. State crimes can be pardoned by that state's governor. Still not realistic that it would happen.

Works exactly like TurboTax without giving any money to Intuit. Federal filing is free but you do have to pay to file state taxes through them ($14.99). It will ask several times if you want to buy their audit protection but you can just select no and keep going.
