I do not browse on my phone. Having been on Reddit for 14 years I had a hard time getting comfortable navigating. I recommend trying these two links Lemmy.old and Alexandrite . These helped me get comfy pretty fast.

If you browse on PC, I found that the Alexandrite UI (https://a.lemmy.world/) made the transition easier for me. If you try it out use the drop-down at the top left to bounce between "subscribed", "local", and "all". "All" will help you find communities you like to subscribe to. Welcome and good luck.
I expect depression / self harm from doom-scrolling and social media consumption is up there.
A cast iron pan. Not only under $100 but will last generations. I just passed the one my father used and gave to me down to my Son when he moved out.
