This orange wire controls the buzzer for my intercom unit, reckon if I put a resistor between it and the screw it would lower the volume of the buzzer? in c/diy_electronics@lemmy.ml

This is your answer OP. Its likely a trigger voltage vs passing the current for the buzzer. Resistor likely won't achieve anything. But try it out.
