This is a massive oversimplification—also, who exactly do you think is responsible for the violence? We live in a late stage capitalist nightmare that has become a well-oiled exploitation and dream crushing machine. You think everyday citizens are responsible for school massacres and “public shootings?” It’s the malaise and discontentment of a modern society run amok. People are left with zero recourse for the systemic problems bearing down on them, so they lash out. It just so happens that the ruling class doesn’t care about the kids in schools or the people on the streets, so they do nothing. And the byproduct of that inaction is more widespread fear and malaise, so the machine keeps running more efficiently when people are scared and beaten down.
People aren’t “happy to get their dopamine high,” they’re conditioned to be docile. If you think breaking out of the most streamlined subjugation and conditioning machine ever invented is a matter of just being happy being subjugated, I think you’re very wrong.

I think it totally depends on your cat. If my cat were more of a loner/not glued to my hip, I think I would’ve gotten her another cat to hang with. But she and I are really bonded and I feel like it’s hurt her feelings if I got her another cat. I’ve brought home a few fosters or had visitors and she’s never been thrilled. She’s also partially paralyzed after a stroke and has incontinence issues. I don’t think I could handle another cat myself.
All depends on your situation. Sounds like you might be feeling like it’s something missing from your cats life if you’re thinking about it.

Thats my point. Far right governments are taking power all over the world. They don’t usually lead to stability. Add in some well-timed crisis (or at least the perception of a crisis, and the media loves to make us perceive things as crises), and things could go south very fuckin fast. Look at Milei, Trump, the far right in Britain, the AfD. These aren’t the most competent people. They’re reactionaries at best. But what they are good at is scapegoating groups and whipping up peoples fears and biases. A few more elections going the wrong way and we are looking at a nearing uniform far right takeover of power.
Because the republicans have spent years gutting oversight, and decades making the populace dumber. This is their final putsch to fully gut the government so they can have complete power. And they’ve mostly succeeded already. The people are beyond disengaged from four years of this four years ago, plus Covid, plus struggling to survive in late stage American capitalism. It’s the perfect storm for a fascist takeover. And they’re taking full advantage.
