There have always been Nazis in America, even during WW2. Listen to Rachel Maddow's podcast "ultra" to hear about how close they came to a takeover of the US way back then. They never went away, they just went low profile for a while.

Once the oligarchs squeeze every cent they can out of wages, public services, and the environment, the military is about all that's left. Gotta get that infinite growth from somewhere!

Not necessarily. They've still got all those cool toys, and a bunch of simpletons with an excess of arrogance and delusions of being "alphas" are going to want to play with them.

This is cool and normal. I don't think the fact that the administration that despises DEI policies firing a highly qualified black man to replace him with what I'm sure will be a tragically incompetent white man is anything to comment on. Carry on with the top notch governing, maga. 👍

They're either stupid or they're liars.

You didn't wake up, this is hell.

And he's already published his hit list of trump enemies to go after. Good to see another one of trump's "only the best people" able to hit the ground running. Thank god the days of weaponised government are over...

I think this goes a bit beyond a unitary presidency. He's not just assuming control of the executive, but supposedly independent regulators as well.

This could turn out to be the most significant moment in a presidency full of disastrously significant moments. Of course the courts will tell trump he can't do this, but if he doesn't listen and nobody stops him, the US is officially a dictatorship.

So in summary, today is the day the US officially became a dictatorship?

I believe the US is a failed state. trump just decided that himself and his AG are the only people who can decide which laws apply to the executive, and ordered the termination of all remaining Biden era US Attorneys. I know we've been saying this a lot lately, but it feels like a mask off moment.

Not my kids, but my wife is American and I lived there for 10 years before moving our family back here in 2015. I thought all my in-laws were decent people, but found out that they all voted for trump last November, and I have to say it's got me feeling very conflicted. I doubt I'd be able to maintain a relationship with any of them if I were still there, knowing what they chose to support.

I hope we respond by putting tariffs on American pickups. Democratic nations need to cut the US out of the global economy entirely until they learn how to act right.

Apologies if there's any weirdness in this post, it's my first one.
