I just remember a professor saying that after he filled the board with proofs and math. 'the rest is trivial' not sure if it was a joke, as I found none of it trivial. (and neither did the rest of the people doing the course).
Yes, there was a big hype in the upcoming biotech revolution in popular transhumanist media a ~decade ago. Lot of it seems to have fizzled out or gone nootropics like stuff. (And even that is meh).

I have not read the article yet, but isn't part of the whole accellerationism thing that you accelerate the decline of the current system so your glorious new system can arise (because it is obviously better). Seems to me like it is the same stuff, they just disagree which faction will prevail after the fall.
