Wow. Reading the heavyhanded corporate plays by people like musk, Reddit’s c-suite, and now the fears about Threads it’s like the corporatocracy is trying to crush and/or consume independent social media.

It’s falling apart over there. They’re attacking and threatening subs literally for following the rules. /pics, /military, and others.

I get to enforce my version of politeness, that version being implied violence against anyone I disagree with.

Yep. Not as busy as r/, but that also means a lot less noise. Really enjoying seeing the old communities reappear in their original or new, fresh forms along with some crazy new stuff that we’ll just have to see if it sticks. Sure, this ‘verse has some frustrations like needing multiple accounts for instances and some minor browsing issues, but otherwise it’s great.

And this is why I laugh at libertarians. They always seem to think markets wouldn’t do potentially damaging things to themselves or customers, but history always points to profit as the driving factor, and if harm can happen alongside profits, so be it.

Enjoyed this movie far more than I thought I would. Her character by far is the best written and CGM does a great job voicing her. Really steals the show. Weakest part of it is the beginning that falls to the trope of “if the main character was simply able to form a complete sentence we probably would have a much shorter film”.

Unfortunately for me I keep getting “problem fetching more posts” on ios. Works great on my desktop, though.

Tobe clear - to charge extortionate prices for API access in a deliberate maneuver to kill 3rd party apps and drive users towards reddit’s native app.

App devs were all willing to work with reddit if they could negotiate reasonable fees, but reddit told them to pay up or get lost.

I thought it was just me seeing that?

The right wing is invading and a lot of posts are just what you said, transphobic, racist, woke-bashing, etc.

Seconded. As the platform grows it will become more and more important to collapse long comment chains that head off into tangents.
