Nothing is more secure than the tride and true card

Exactly, even moreso that Microsoft butchered it

It seems that they are also doing the same to their Outlook app

Yet they decided to only focus on making the main UI better and not improving the video quality

Tech content creators and news sites have recently dug into an Insider build of Skype's files, to find a string of text which reads as follows:

"Starting in May 2025, Skype will no longer be available. By logging into Microsoft Teams with your Skype account, your chats and contacts will appear in the app so you can pick up where you left off. Alternatively, you can export your Skype data"

This message comes as no surprise to those who saw the writing on the walls before this, especially since people had already jumped over to other platforms, such as Zoom, Discord, and even Microsoft's own-brand Microsoft Teams.

I myself have fond memories of contacting friends and family with Skype, especially during the pandemic before I got Zoom.

Farewell, Skype. You will always live on in the hearts and minds of those that used it.

Windows fr thinks that getting updates done is more important than getting work done.

You mean Twitter marks the spot?

I don't blame them for protesting. Yeah, admittedly AI is cool n' all, but you don't need to encourage an entire military to get in on it.

Hello there, and welcome to my first post here! This is basically where I will post my personal opinions on things, as well as how making videos for my YouTube channel sometimes goes wrong.

In this post I'll be talking about what I think about Lemmy, and if it's really contributed to those looking to leave Reddit, and I'll be doing this point for point, so here I go!

The UI

Starting off, the Lemmy UI is something that I've never properly seen before on a service like this, but I'm sure there are many services out there that have similar interfaces. To me, the user interface is simple and easy to understand, which means I won't need to be hunting around for something that I need to see. Also, I think it's way simpler than Reddit's UI, which is just an utter clusterfuck of buttons in every corner you look.

Profile pages

Like Reddit, there is a dedicated menu which you can use to customise your profile. Unlike on Reddit however, all of your profile settings (minus blocks) are all on a single page, unlike the tabbed system on Reddit.

However, this doesn't mean Lemmy's system is perfect, as it is missing something that Reddit has: a follow button. I'm not sure if it's just Lemmy.ml that has no follow button however, so feel free to correct me on that if I am wrong.

Posting content

Posting content is kind of half n' half - both Reddit and Lemmy have a half decent post page and system, so I don't have an awful lot to say about posting content.

One thing I will say is that, because Lemmy is very much community focused, there is no way to post on your profile directly, which results in communities like these. Other than that, posting content is okay.

Community creation

Unlike Reddit, community creation doesn't take an arm and a leg to complete, as it's (once again) all on a single page, making it easy to get a community up and running.

Conclusion

In conclusion, Lemmy is definitely a reasonable Reddit alternative for those looking to switch. It is missing a few things, don't get me wrong, but it's for sure better than dealing with a platform that bans users for signing up to it.

Thanks for reading! Ralzi out!

There goes my plans for the weekend

[–] RalziTech@lemmy.ml 1 points 1 week ago (1 children)

No, the 2:30 does refer to the time it runs on battery

[–] RalziTech@lemmy.ml 6 points 1 week ago (2 children)

That's the problem - I've never had any banned accounts on Reddit before

[–] RalziTech@lemmy.ml 3 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

This is the exact problem I'm having, with a suspension and subreddit ban on top of that (the subreddit that I created was also banned)

Btw the german text reads "This account has been suspended", with buttons to log in and sign up

Is it just me, or does the Oppo Find X5 Pro have the worst battery in existence, even when it launched and was brand new? At most (during normal usage) it lasted me about 2:30hrs on average, but this number was sometimes more or less depending on what my phone felt like doing.

As well as this, I have to travel long lengths to shopping, and in most scenarios I'd leave my house with 100% and make it back with about 30-45%. I've even lost the ability to scan my train tickets through the barriers at some stations thanks to this.
