I’m a millenial/Gen Z. I was really surprised to find out that I was one of the youngest in my protest group. A lot of people told me they were protesting for their grandkids. They also expressed regret that my generation would have to deal with the fallout of this.

Also, do we know that millennials are protesting less than other generations? My protests seem to be pretty age-diverse. They seem to match up with the generation percentages of the population at large. People might just be used to seeing mainly young people at protests.

Legally, you need a permit to march on the roads. Past protests have marched on the roads, though. One 50501 protest even got carried away and tried to march on the highway, but then they were stopped by older protesters. My protests get carried away and we wander into the roads. Peacekeepers have to direct us back to the sidewalks.

I will say that my state’s 50501 protest always manages to clog up the road even though we don’t intentionally block it.

Most of the drivers are on our side. They will slow down to wave to us or take a video. People going back and forth keeps slowing down traffic. Cars will keep going back in the car line to honk again.

Would it be better to clog up the road completely? I don’t know. All I know is that it seems to be on purpose that people stay on the sidewalks.

It looks like the little symbol on milk cartons from school.

You know I’m not talking about them.

People keep using the Nazi comparison. I really don’t think it’s helpful. All it does is prevent coalition building.

  • People who vote for Kamala are Nazis!
  • People who don’t vote for Kamala are Nazis!
  • People who engage in cancel culture are Nazis!

A Nazi is such a strong label that it prevents people from wanting to work with each other against fascism.

I counted all them a while ago, but that was back when Alaska only had 6. There was 700 then, there must be a thousand now.

Edit: I counted them. As of today there are 900.

Tesla Takedown’s can get rowdy but are mainly peaceful. 50501 and Indivisible are strictly peaceful.

There are the risk of instigators at any protests. I’d just recommend you find a good group you are comfortable with.

My 50501 group is really well managed. There are peacekeepers there in vests. One time, we got too rowdy and started to walk into the road (not on purpose). But the peacekeepers reminded us to stay on the sidewalk.

I legit laughed when the mods on the Reddit responded with:

“There are literally several hundred Tesla Takedown protests today.”

I’m going to People’s Veto Day! It will be an 8 hour bus ride there. I was worried our bus would be cancelled but we managed to find people to go!

My dad is going with me. I feel kind of guilty about that because he is going mainly because he wants me safe.

I mean yes… but also no. People are protesting, and we definitely are seeing growth. I believe we are on the right track. Even Erica Chenoweth seems to think so. The issue is that we aren’t to the level we need to be yet. Unfortunately, that’s going to take time.

We lack a lack of culture of mass protest. That along with transportation issues, infighting, and with many people in a state of shock. It’s also only been two months. No mass movement in the US has ever formed within that timeframe.

There’s a lot to be optimistic about though. I find it inspiring seeing all these groups organize resources and people for the April 5th protest. It’s a huge undertaking to move that many people there. Seeing the massive organizational effort behind it is inspiring and a good sign for the future.
