Or it would be if the Democrats lacked a history of thumbing the scales of primaries

Best AskLemmy question I've seen in years

The problems that get left out of that story's narrative IIRC was that she was inside her apartment building's lobby. Like yes people should have responded (assuming they could actually hear her, most apartment lobbies aren't built with acoustics in mind) but that's way different from there actually being like 20 people in the street looking on as the Bystander Effect implies.

Wait that poem doesn't start with "First they came for the liberals because pussyhats or something idk"?

[–] OprahsedCreature@lemmy.ml 4 points 5 months ago

Oh absolutely, but you can substitute pretty much anyone in there and the overarching point is still valid

I'll say what I've been saying for a while:

"Russia has nukes. Ukraine does not. The outcome was decided before it began."

Russia will stay in Ukraine as long as it is profitable to do so, and will leave when that is no longer the case or can get something big enough in response to convince them to leave. The US and EU can supply arms to Ukraine to make it less profitable but even so Russia has far more troops and resources than Ukraine. Unfortunately the US also hinged that support on Ukraine not negotiating for peace so they've been dug in extra deep in this and lost at least a generation of men now.

if gore had been granted his win

Yes, he was the actual winner

Blaming Dems [...] is the reason we got trump.

Lol, lmao even.

You spend all your energy fighting the only party trying to help you at all right now and for the past 25 years.

Yeah they've been doing a bang up job of it.

Literally every tactic employed by Trump could have been employed by a Dem who actually wanted to enact positive change, as well as expanding and packing the supreme court with loyalists. You know, if they didn't have dementia and weren't being "Weekend at Bernie's'ed" by party functionaries.

This isn't about Dems this is about shortsighted electorate like you.

"The Democrat Party can never fail, they can only be failed."

Calling neolibs conservatives is fucking hilarious and sad.

I only wish I could see your face when you look up the word "neoliberal"

Americans will never see any real progress in their lifetimes as long as the Democratic party in its current incarnation stands intact.

Conservatives are by their nature evil and reactionary, but also simultaneously eternal and temporary. They are a society's dead skin being shed before the new form emerges, its cocoon of petulant narcissism refusing to accept reality.

The problem with neoliberal Democrats is that they don't realize that they're conservative too, and as such must be shed.
