That’s certainly what it was at first, but we’re talking about people who have been indoctrinated from birth for generations.

e: I strongly encourage you to watch some of their educational content. I won’t even try to guide you towards anything specific. Just any of it.

Is this federated? I use Voyager on iOS exclusively, and that link doesn’t resolve to a community for me. I searched for those terms on Lemmy and didn’t find anything.

If this doesn’t exist on Lemmy, I might start a community and dedicate my life to it.

That’s true, but again, not consciously. They think of themselves as morally pure, and they’re only following their god’s word. It’s not their fault that others are wicked, and they’ve tried to save us from hell.

That’s why we can’t reach them. They think they’re the righteous ones, and will think that long past when they’re literally lighting the fires upon which they burn us.

Sorry, I guess I wasn’t clear.

The Heritage Society has thought this through – I meant rank and file republicans haven’t. Thus my original comment about people going Pikachu face when this shit happens when it was all spelt out in Project 2025.

It’s infuriating that most people had no idea what they were voting for, but that’s true. It’s also true that many would still deny it whilst ruffling the ashes of their neighbours from their hair. And they won’t acknowledge it in the future, either.

e: sorry, my fault; rereading, I see I switched between ‘they’ meaning the leadership vs the majority of constituents mid-sentence.

e2: this is exactly why citizens in towns near the Nazi’s death camps were made to walk through and look at what they’d done, by the way. People refuse to reckon with their decisions unless made to look.

To be fair, though, popular myths are what led us here.

Ancient Aliens is the perfect gateway to anti-science, which gave us figures like RFK Jr who now has the power to fuck all the progress we’ve made in the hundreds of years since vaccines.

Creationism is now being taught in public schools, which undermines centuries of science. Public science is being dismantled, all for their rapture fantasies.

They’re not hiding climate science because they disagree, but because they think it’s a sign of the apocalypse and a good thing, so they don’t want people to fight it.

They’ve said this out loud, many times. It’s all on video. Again, Pikachu face.

I don’t think they’re thinking it through like this. Yeah, that will likely happen, but I doubt this is an end goal they have. They don’t think things through like that. They’re reactionary, and trans people make them feel things they don’t want to feel, because Jesus watches them touch themselves. It’s really that simple.

The genocide is on the horizon, but most of them don’t know that – and won’t know it for decades afterwards. That’s why this is so dangerous.

e: look at the porn they watch then tell me this isn’t true. They think these are fetishes, not identities, because they’re devoid of empathy. It’s horrible, but if you understand this, their actions, however reprehensible, make sense.

I feel like nobody read Project 2025. Everyone seems all Pikachu face lately, when they’ve not only told us all this, but blatantly captured all the levers of power.

What did you expect they’d do?

Spoiler: VPNs will be outlawed soon.

I’m tired of the future being destroyed by capitalists/christian nationalists. That’s been happening for hundreds and thousands of years, every time they gain power, no matter where or when. Republicans are relatively new to this game.

I’m also tired of society having to relearn this lesson at great loss of life and suffering, over and over.

We’re smarter than this, and we far outnumber them.

‘They’ say that because turnout for primaries is always abysmal, so candidates who make it to generals are usually centrist.

If progressives actually voted in primaries, they’d have the options they want in generals. But usually, the vast majority who vote in primaries are older, more moderate voters.

Progressive candidates exist, but if you want them, you can’t just vote every 4 years.

[–] LillyPip@lemmy.ca 2 points 2 days ago

Honestly, primaries are all that matter.

If progressives don’t win the primaries, all we have to vote for are centrists and fascists, which means more fascism.

Please, please vote in primaries and get everyone you know to vote in the primaries, too.

There are leftists trying to gain a foothold in the Democrat party, and some are succeeding (see the latest New York mayoral primary).

Many people ignore primaries, though. You know who does vote in primaries? Older more moderate voters. So progressives tend to lose primaries, then the people who didn’t bother with the primaries complain there aren’t progressive enough candidates in the main elections, so they don’t vote.

If you want more leftist candidates (within the FPTP system), support progressive candidates and show up to the primaries.

Excerpts:

The acceptance of Einstein’s general theory of relativity made time travel physically respectable, because it allows spacetimes in which the timelike curves of observers can form a closed loop. While some theories suggest exotic physics that open wormholes, author John D. Norton has proposed a simpler model in which observers, tracing out timelike curves, might meet their past selves.

An interesting difference between author Norton’s model and that of others is that the model presented here is not time-orientable, which means that it does not have a uniform, forward definition of time. Furthermore, it is matter-free and flat everywhere except for a two-dimensional singularity analogous to the singular point of a paper cone.

“A conical singularity is unlike more familiar curvature singularities,” said Norton. “No matter how close you come to the singularity in this spacetime, the spacetime geometry remains flat and regular with no indication locally of something pathological.”

A spaceship, traveling in a well-behaved region of spacetime, might then encounter this singularity and find its timelike geodesic to be deflected into its past. It would then return to the earlier, well-behaved region of spacetime and the spaceship occupants would encounter their past selves aging in the opposite time sense.

Guys, I fucked up. I have what was a beautiful two-tone colander that looked nice and retro, with a shiny red finish. After some use, there was a very tiny amount of rust showing in places around the rim, and my dumbass self decided to soak it in CLR like I do with anything metal that gets signs of rust. It didn’t occur to me that it would remove the gloss finish from the powder-coated enamel.

Now it looks and feels awful, like it has a dull, pink, rubbery coating instead of the beautiful glossy bright red finish of yore.

Is there a product I can use to polish it back to beauty? It wasn’t cheap and has been discontinued, so I’d like to restore it if possible.

I’ve searched online but my Google-fu isn’t worthy, apparently. Thanks in advance!

Animals live in an entirely different reality FYI

This video compares the perception of sound and reality ‘refresh rates’ between animals like dogs, cats, Guinea pigs, ducks, small birds, elephants, insects, etc.

‘Taco Bell isn't even good’

Yeah I know. Sometimes the raccoon inside of me craves garbage. Leave me & my Crunchwrap alone.

There are many reasons you might have unclaimed funds (abandoned accounts, uncashed checks, misspelled names, incorrect addresses, misplaced inheritance and trusts, etc), and your state is required to hold your property until you claim it.

They will not seek you out, and most people are completely unaware they may have lost funds or property being held by the state.

Every state has an official (.gov) website where you can check whether you have unclaimed property and submit a claim. Just search ‘[my state] unclaimed property’.

e: make sure you go to the official state website; I just noticed some state search top results aren’t the official (.gov) website.

e2: also, check every state you’ve lived in. Moving state is one of the major reasons this happens, and your unclaimed funds will not move to a new state with you.

e3: if you find unclaimed funds, please comment! I’m fascinated to know, no matter how large or small.
