You'd have to be nuts to invest in Reddit, given the current state of the platform.

• The the CEO admitting reddit is not profitable in its current state.
• The amount of media attention the API change protests have gotten. * The ever increasing amount of search engine links to removed content.
• Memelords already talking about shorting the stock into the ground if it goes public.
• Various scandals involving the CEO, with likely more to come.
• Little to no third-party developers willing to write new software that integrates with Reddit anymore because they are now seen as an unpredictable party.

There is no way any of this leads to significant growth. The user base that has stuck around is generally not interested in the things that make reddit reddit, being a community-driven and -moderated platform. And significant changes to how the platform works (thereby taking away the unique selling points) will put it into a position where there is no real advantage over using competing platforms. This will make binding new users to the platform a difficult task.

The only ones stupid enough to buy lots of reddit stock will have an incentive to change it and make it profitable. We've seen musk attempt this with Twitter and just look how that has worked out so far.

The worst part is that Spez will likely still get to cash out and fuck off while the platform dies and burns in his wake.

I do agree with you there. Though I don't consider small changes that are weighed carefully to be in the same category as completely inventing (controversial) story events that go directly against established canon. Or even plain retconning some things to make your half-assed original story work.

Disney fucked this up when they acquired the Star Wars IP: They took a beloved world where lots of authors have spent years carefully and respectfully filling plot holes, expanding upon the source material and they had to wipe it all and do their own thing.

Tons of concepts that neatly integrated into the established canon at the time thrown into the trash, and for what? A clever take on space nazis? Bleeding crystals? A movie we've seen before? Grumpy, whiney grandpa Luke? A ripoff of Jacen Solo that was executed badly? "Somehow Palpatine Returned"? All of these concepts sound wild because they are, they make no sense.

The only sane piece of grey area canon we have left is the whole Old Republic era (both the KotOR games, comics, books and the MMO). If those get the same treatment I'm never touching anything Disney again.

The moment I hear "the writing team has taken some creative liberty" I am 100% done with your new project. The only thing you need to do in order to litterally print money is hire a scriptwriter and director that has read and is a fan of the source material. No need for writing teams, no need for adaptation to different audiences, just cater to the fans or fuck off.

With Cavill leaving the show the only redeeming quality is gone and I doubt many people will be interested in sticking around for the whole crash and burn that will follow.

Yes, RTFM (Read The Fucking Manual) is kinda the gold standard if you're looking for consistency and preheating is what eliminates most of the difference between shitty ovens and more reliable ones.

The time it takes to go from cold to hot varies massively between ovens, and your oven might not be up to temp by the time your recipe says to pull the stuff out.

Remaining factors are keeping consistent temperature and overshoot, which is why you'll invest in a proper oven if you're even remotely serious about baking.

Als je doel is om verandering teweeg te brengen bij een groep mensen die bekend staat om een harde respons, dan is het verwachtingspatroon ook een harde respons op correctie. Ze zijn immers vooral heel overtuigd van hun mening, maar die wordt gevormd door een bepaald referentiekader.

Je ziet dit ook gebeuren rond Sinterklaastijd: KOZP heeft ervoor gekozen een harde lijn te voeren tegenover een groep die hardnekkig vasthoudt aan de eigen denkbeelden. Het gevolg? Letterlijke oorlog en niemand reageert meer vanuit de ratio maar alleen nog maar vanuit de emotie.

Het heeft geen zin om vuur met vuur te bestrijden als je doel is om daarna weer samen door één deur te kunnen. Wanneer de dialoog verandert in ruzie luistert ook niemand meer naar elkaar. Op dat moment heb je nog twee keuzes over:

• Bestrijden, dit lukt alleen maar als je dit ook kunt volhouden. Maar het leidt tot een gevoel van onvrede en onderdrukking van een mening (exact de reden waarom de PVV nu zo groot is), mensen die zich niet gehoord voelen.
• Het bespreekbaar maken, en daarvoor moet je - geheel tegen je rechtvaardigheidsgevoel in - toch wat ruimte bieden aan het geluid zonder er erkenning of instemming aan te verlenen.

Xenofobie, de naam zegt het al, komt voort uit angst. Angst voor dingen die misschien helemaal niet zo zijn als men zich voorstelt. Aan de andere kant van het spectrum zit haat, een obsessie die op meerdere manieren tot stand kan komen. Soms is dat trauma, soms is dat aangeleerd, soms is dat jaloezie/afgunst en soms is dat gewoon irrationeel. Maar in alle gevallen geldt dat het laatste wat helpt is de ander niet kennen in diens gevoelens.

En soms is de uitkomst misschien wel dat er geen beweging mogelijk is. Het is maar net hoveel geduld je hebt om door de ander heen te prikken en hoezeer je dat als jouw verantwoordelijkheid ziet.

Tot slot: Wilders zelf heeft ook gewoon hulp nodig. Zijn denkbeelden zijn misschien wel gebaseerd op reëele angsten en èchte problematiek in de samenleving, maar zijn uitlatingen en visie zijn overduidelijk gevormd door een emotionele respons en een obsessie met het onderwerp. Het zou hem ook goed doen om juist de ruimte te krijgen om zijn punten bespreekbaar te maken. Maar daar is wel voor nodig dat hij niet wordt weggezet als extreemrechtse gek, maar als slachtoffer van een irrationele haatobsessie (maar niet in die woorden). We moeten hem en zijn achterban als samenleving serieus nemen en de dialoog voeren want alleen zo kunnen we hem ontwapenen.
