Hmm, I thought it was open-weights only, but I think you might be right, I've checked HuggingChat and it's one of the options, so you're probably right. And yes, it's better than OpenAI

On the other hand the Friendica Wikipedia article seems much more detailed, even tho I'm sure it could be expanded as well.

I would use the argument that you can't access content on Discord unless you have a discord account, on the other hand pretty much all content on Reddit (And Lemmy etc) is available without registration

Oh, and that it's much more focused on chats than on forum-style posts

That's interesting, I assumed so because:

  1. It's known, that some Hexbear users create alt accounts on other Lemmy instances, because they're mostly defederated to "spread their message"
  2. Your account is pretty new
  3. Because you're against the defederation, I assumed that it's because you have came from an instance that gets defederated often

But seems like your opinion actually something consistent and not trolling, in that case I respect your opinion, even if I personally don't agree with your philosophy I can understand it. It's good that in the Fediverse you can choose an instance that aligns with your philosophy (Like lemm.ee) and I can choose the one that aligns with mine.

Because it's an abandoned instance, or at least it was for a while

A summary of the highlights and key accomplishments of the Symfony project in 2024.

Hungary has been officially denied some $1 billion dollars in European Union funding that the bloc had frozen because of corruption allegations.

The move, confirmed in an EU statement late on December 31, was the first time that it had taken such a step against a bloc member.

Budapest made no immediate statement about the expired funds.

That amount was part of a larger sum -- 19 billion euros ($19.7 billion) -- that had been frozen, dating back to 2022, when Brussels began "conditionality" proceedings against Hungary.

Those proceedings blocked the disbursements of funds because of allegations that the Hungarian government had violated rules on public procurement as well as a lack of control and transparency.

Budapest made a number of reforms that allowed some funds to be unblocked, but the deadline for the release of the latest installment expired on December 31.

That meant that Hungary lost the funding, which amounted to 1.04 billion euros ($1.08 billion).

In a report released in July, the European Commission said that Hungary did not meet EU democratic standards, specifically regarding political financing, conflicts of interest, and media independence.

Russian state gas giant Gazprom said it had suspended gas supplies to Europe via a major pipeline traversing Ukraine, after Kyiv refused to renew a transit contract signed before Moscow’s all-out invasion. The move, announced early January 1 in a post to Gazprom's Telegram channel

We analyzed every instance of AI use in elections collected by the WIRED AI Elections Project (source for our analysis), which tracked known uses of AI for creating political content during elections taking place in 2024 worldwide. In each case, we identified what AI was used for and estimated the cost of creating similar content without AI.

We find that (1) half of AI use isn't deceptive, (2) deceptive content produced using AI is nevertheless cheap to replicate without AI, and (3) focusing on the demand for misinformation rather than the supply is a much more effective way to diagnose problems and identify interventions.
