Typically we think of otome games as visual novels. But I have played quite a few text-based games where you can play as a woman with a bunch of (male) love interests. Usually no or few images, definitely no CGs, but your choices affect the story and often characters' opinions of you. Some are more focused on the relationships, some less. I was wondering how many people play otome who also play these interactive fiction games, or vice versa, how much the audience for both overlaps. Was also wondering if some IF might qualify as otome.

Valentine's Day is either approaching or officially here, depending on your timezone. Given these games are usually about getting in a romantic relationship with a guy, so I figured at least one post acknowledging Valentine's Day would be appropriate. Are you going to play a particular otome game, perhaps going through your favorite LI's route? Draw fanart or write fanfic of MC and an LI? Spend more time developing your own otome game? Something else?

Valentines Otome (yes, that's really the title, no apostrophe) is especially appropriate for the day. I'd also think Cupid Parasite to be so.

Figure it's probably relevant to plug !otomegames@ani.social, a community for otome games—think dating sims aimed at women who want to date men. (For transparency purposes, I mod it.) I have a feeling otome games are not what usually gets posted here, but it is open source and I think open source coming to something niche like otome is a victory.
