I kinda get it as a policy decision. I don't like it, but I understand the risk and I can empathize.

What really bugs me though is this announcement right here and then it just... didn't happen. It feels kind of dishonest to have a big announcement welcoming them back and then nothing comparative saying that they apparently changed their minds immediately. Feels like there should at least be an edit/addendum to this announcement being like 'psych, fingers crossed!'. Trying to defuse with humor, I do know any statement would invite discontent from the userbase, but I feel like the complete lack of one kind of kills our trust in the admins here even more.

If you came to the fediverse for a community on dbzer0, easiest solution is to make an account on dbzer0. It's a good instance, if you like it, think about contributing to their patreon.

No, we're all on lemmy.world and we're here, not fully defederated. You can get to most communities on dbzer0, it's just that specific /c/piracy community that is blocked on world.

My friend, they're joking.

The Steam Controller 2 leaks seem a lot more reliable. There was also the hori steam controller not long ago, but not sure if that's in the US.

Just a heads up, I see you joined lemmy.world , the dbzer0 piracy community that I think you may have come for is blocked there, so may not be able to access it from where you are.

I know it's kinda confusing.

It's real confusing.

They state that they've done this right there, but it seems like there might have been a miscommunication somewhere and doesn't look like anyone ever actually got around to removing the block at a technical level. Both piracy communities are still currently blocked on lemmy.world a year later.

But like...

Does it still work?

$4 a dozen seems to be common for the low end outside of large cities, there's definitely some weird math.

It's just for-profit prisons but now in El Salvador:

Bukele later confirmed the agreement with Rubio on X, saying in a post, “We are willing to take in only convicted criminals (including convicted US citizens) into our mega-prison (CECOT) in exchange for a fee.”

El Salvador’s Terrorism Confinement Center, commonly referred to as CECOT, is the country’s largest and newest prison, with a maximum capacity of 40,000 inmates.

“The fee would be relatively low for the US but significant for us, making our entire prison system sustainable,” he added.

Primary goal is stated as holding deportees, but the option of holding US citizens was floated by El Salvador as well. Deporting US citizens in this matter should currently be illegal.

Trader Joe's got rid of their Honey Butter chips in 2018 and I'm still salty about it.

I'm with you, they seem to really like being the underdogs and it seems to work out well for them from a fundraising perspective. It definitely feels like they're angling to just barely lose.

I hope they eventually prove me wrong too, but it does feel like when they do well enough to win it's mostly an unfortunate accident in their eyes.
