any reason to use this over real debrid + stremio?

[–] 3dmvr@lemm.ee 5 points 15 hours ago

The all men bad but I dont mean all men and if you think this applies to you then it does videos daily on tiktok do enough damage

[–] 3dmvr@lemm.ee 9 points 15 hours ago

Pretty common irl, ppl that are constant problems get away with shit because its expected, anyone retaliating because they reached their breaking point looks insane in comparison

cachyos is easiest way to arch, I found the install to be easier than bazzite, its all graphical, very straightforward, just works, imo gnome with extensions is superior to plasma rnow if you want a clean modern look, plasma can get you one too, gnome just feels more crafted. Plasma feels more like an easily tinkerable windows ui, imo in a year itll be nice.

Reason why I talk about gnome and plasma more than distros is that reslly decides your day to day a bit more, bazzite gnome vs plasma or if cachyos you can have both, requires some tinkering. I go back and forth but gnome is the one where I actually end up using my laptop more and feeling good about the look with minimal extensions/tinkering. Gnome without extensions is bottomtier tho imo, not much customization by default (to be fair extensions are built in and a default thing)

I see no reason to switch rnow, but atomic blue distros like bazzite should be safer long term and in general. Backups, fixes issues on reboot, stable with tested updates, etc. You can change to another without losing your files/data. Can't easy effect settings, etc. Im a tinkerer tho, so cachy is superior, things that takes seconds would take minutes and workarounds on bazzite.

I just shrank my partition but Im just gonna delete it and fully swap to linux, idc if I run into isues anymore, I always got a usb to restart and 90% of what I do is online

I'll die on the hill that it was bad with you, but I also believe atla being good was luck and them just throwing shit at a board, same with stranger things which just grabbed hella random concepts and admitted to being inspired by shit like elfen lied.

Or not an idiot with a sense of self preservation, you call it coward, I call it not a dumbass who was born to die

Not cowards just have sense, better someone else dows the violence rather than your own life get ruined the end goal is you having a better life if you do the violence your own life gets worse objectively.

We all want luigis, but none of us are desperate enough to be luigis, because we obviously dont want our own lives to goto shit? There is no happy ending for them

We just need fediverse awareness, I think the assumption is that these platforms cant be replaced or recreated, like ppl assume even the look is something that cant be remade elsewhere, or would cost a ton. People also need to give what the masses want if thats what they want, apparently mastodon avoided quote tweets forever because of bullying, I can not see myself using a microblogging platform without quoting, its probably the most importatn feature.

Pretty much what I was look for, thanks

I see a lot of random iptv apps/services, do any exist that have live chat rooms for each channel? Miss the vibe of watching anime on a piracy site with a chat room on the side.

What would you reccomend/use for an alienware laptop m17r5 with amdcpu (idr) and gpu 6850mxt. Idc about adjusting the keyboard lights, I changed it once and never touched it again. I play games like cities skyline, noita, etc. and some vr stuff rarely like vtolvr and warthunder. I use blender and houdinifx.
I've seen PopOs reccomended for Blender users but I think thats because it comes with a lot of stuff you need for Nvidia, which isn't relevant to me with an all amd setup.

Cachyos seems to be the move for best performance with rendering and simulating, was wondering about other options I have since I dont need to worry about nvidia drivers.

I dont like the idea of using ubuntu because of snap packages, but its not a big deal.

While I like tinkering, I do want it to be relatively stable, not suprising me with issues when I need it.

Currently Interested in: CachyOs Debian (leaning towards here if I go the stable route) EndeavorOs Mint (seems popular, is it just simplified?)

EDIT: Went with CachyOs for now, works well, only issue was auto install didn't work and I needed to manually partition and set the flags for boot and the os drive, other than that it's been very fast and intuitive using KDE plasma. Recently tried Hyprland with the JaKooLit config, since ML4W didn't want to work and had bugs, , I like it more than I thought I would.

Might try EndeavorOS and Bazzite on another ssd, they also look interesting.

Not really sure how dualbooting or vms work at their core. I'm kind of over windows and want to swap, always liked the customizability aspect and have been using Linux more and more for self hosting purposes. Was wondering if I setup linux on my external ssd using a vm if I could change it from vm to a dualboot drive after I'm done setting it up. That way I could setitup and swap to it while keepign my original ssd with my windows install,. and not have to deal with dualbooting and going back and forth while setting up?

Can I make a vm of my current windows machine backup and run that in a linux setup?

I started off using Voyager, swapped to Mlem because of slight differences I preferred. Recently found out Thunder for Lemmy is available on the apple appstore and it instantly became my favorite. I like how unique the ui is compared to other, it seems better suited for browsing and posting on Lemmy, while the others feel better for the initial transition from Reddit. Very suprised it has barely any downloads or reviews when its easily the best Lemmy app on IOS.

Thunder reminds me of the more "modern" alternative front ends for lemmy some sites have while mlem and voyager feel more like the alternative reddit apps (blue alien) and give a similar experience.

On desktop, I've been using Friendica.

Was rewatching Venture Bros and this scene reminded me of Kanye.

I want to show a bunch of previews of websites on one page on a grid. The visual link preview addon just grabs an image from the page and the tagline, it doesnt actually show a site preview. Wpmains grid view of sites is a great example of what I want in the image. (Ik I can just take screenshots and get this done in minutes, I was hoping there was some dynamic addon that is easy to update)

By site preview I mean a literal preview of the website, thought that was obvious but the only adddon I've found for this purpose definitely doesn't do that.

It makes it easier to understand what this is and that they are interconnected, but I think I enjoy unique branding/themes more in practice now that I am actually using the fediverse.

I self hosted an instance at is.hardlywork.ing, my images are getting cropped and losing the top and bottom 25% of the the image, leaving me a zoomed in rectangle. I tried on web browser, phone app, etc. same issue uploading any 1920x1080 photo.

Just started an instance so I can upload images, is.hardlywork.ing , The images I upload are screenshots of comics, they are missing the top and bottom parts of the image like 25% both ways, and the final result it uploads is zoomed in and cropped.

Never tried before, want to automatically crosspost posts with locked comments to unlockthread@lemm.ee, wondering if it's even possible and what direction I need to head in. Just going off lemmy settings allowing bot accounts.

I have some programming and webdev knowledge so I'm not compeltely clueless, just fairly clueless wheen it comes to bots.

If you're tired of people locking fun threads, because they are going offtopic or comments violate that specific community's rules , crosspost them here to restart/continue the conversation.

I find it really frustrating when I'm reading an interesting thread, goto comment and I am unable to because someone decided to lock it for going offtopic. Personally, my favorite comments sections are the ones that end up going offtopic.

Still need to follow lemm.ee rules ofc.
