They're not even that cheap. I am unfortunately in the market for a car and as much as I'd like one of these mythical cheap Chinese EVs, they don't exist in Europe.

They're not cheap in Europe because of import and export tarrifs along with additional taxes that China and your country collect. The cars are relatively cheap for Chinese consumers.

Gotta fly to China buy an EV and drive back home 😎

Mfw I pay $10,000-$20,000 in shipping and the custom agent at the border asks me where my tax papers are.

All that is true, it's just funny that the reality stands in stark contrast to European politicians (who must also know that) claiming that cheap Chinese EVs are going to outcompete European EVs in Europe.

Also waiting for the cheap chinese EVs

If it is sold cheaply, the EU will be very angry。Of course, cars should not be that expensive.

The EU is already very angry, but I have yet to see a Chinese EV available for less than a European one, and Tesla is probably the cheapest. At this point the Chinese or other new Asian EV manufacturers are only selling their top of the line models in Europe if any at all.

Here's looking forward to a century and millennia onwards of impotent, bitter EU rage! And I hope after China, next comes perhaps India, or all the other countries the Euros have brutalized for so long.... the EU had best get used to not second, not third, but eventually hopefully even last place (along with the US).

I certainly hope so as well.

Doesn’t Bolivia have cheap EVs?

[–] knfrmity@lemmygrad.ml 3 points 1 year ago

Maybe, I genuinely don't know.

Y’all know that cars in NA are:

  1. A necessity because of how infrastructure is set up.

  2. Being price gauged out the ass from artificial scarcity

Without the text in the bottom, the image of cars just going down into Earth from space like a fucking meteor shower is weirdly funny to me.

Even that is a projection, remember who actually send the car in space?

They've destroying the car market over here in Algeria, there's a motherfucking Chery dealership in my village tf
