Got this beachy Latin-themed number in my head all morning since going on a PSB bender yesterday. Viva la 90s and Neil Tennant's gorgeous voice... Some songs are just genuinely uplifting :)

I'm considering getting audio books instead of dead trees. It doesn't matter if I listen a few times to get everything I miss by not paying enough attention. Feels like a waste tho as I have so many books I haven't read. 😟

I recently started doing audiobooks, really like it. I listen when I’m doing chores or in the car. Still read paper books sometimes too, so it hasn’t been a total replacement. Audiobooks really shine where there is a multi character cast, or a biography where the author reads it themselves. And exactly as you said, if my concentration drifts off I just rewind and listen to the bit I missed again. It’s not really cheaper than paper, if you use something like audible. But you can also get audiobooks from libraries but there might be waitlisted for the popular books. Maybe there will be a Black Friday deal and you can try out if you like it.

It's weird for a potential employer to ask for a reference from your current employer right? I mean, I would get fired on the spot if my current employer found out I was looking for a new role...

Today I met a little dog named Ruby Tuesday. So please enjoy this 90s flashback https://youtu.be/SV2pIWd58Mg?si=PGlQ6P58EXBsOxn6

Surely I shouldn’t be able to see this?

Mod actions are (mostly) transparent.

Weirdly, my user bans don't show up in the modlog. I ban about two spammers and their post history per day, and that never shows up. It seems if I purge a comment that it's gone from everywhere - including modlog. No admin would ever abuse this loophole, right?

Everybody can see the mod logs.

How odd. First it’s turned up for me. An on/off to avoid clutter would be nice

Hiding this towards the end of the thread. I've found a song I don't hate, stuffed the ukulele with socks to quieten it and learned three chords. My hands are so weak and awkward though.

And working on fundamentals by trying to speedrun a 'draw manga' book (to avoid feeling intimidated)... Well things look much worse than when I just draw faces and proportions by what looks right :/

Why do the basics you need to build on to eventually get good suck so much
