It's weird for a potential employer to ask for a reference from your current employer right? I mean, I would get fired on the spot if my current employer found out I was looking for a new role...
Not unusual. They like to check references from recent workplaces. You can however let them know that would put you in an awkward position, and would prefer they use your other references instead. They shouldn’t be be contacting anyone that you haven’t provided as a reference.
Yeah I said "it would be difficult", and to contact me to discuss.
