Is this still accurate? I play one night a week with friends from college because we have been playing the game for 13 years.

As long as you're playing for fun you're good. The game is just notorious for people deciding whether they are having a good or bad day by winning or losing and trying to surrender because it's "lost anyway" in like 70% of matches, then beating up their keyboard, and only taking breaks when they're banned for hate speech.

I know 2 guys like this, but my other friends have definitely stepped away from the game in the sense that they don't just absolutely live on it anymore.

S3-S6 I climbed to Plat. IMO that was the best era. I quit or played infrequently since then. They kept throwing weird shit into the meta that was just too much minigame BS for my taste. Unfortunately DOTA2 is becoming that way now too.
