labor being flanked from the left by the nationalsozialistische englisch arbeiterpartei

considering vile comments around, maybe they'll backtrack, idk.

I think Reform are basically stuck at 25-30% of the electorate at the moment and are trying to appear more "moderate" to expand their base as that won't be enough for a durable majority. See their statement about the Online Safety Act too. They're backed by American Christian fundamentalists at the end of the day so you can't trust this one bit.

You should never trust a fascist, ever. Except when they're letting you know you that they're going to kill you. Deception is part of their modus operandi.

especially when there's not even a pretence of a democratic mechanism within the party, just whatever Farage says goes

[–] ThermonuclearEgg@hexbear.net 6 points 2 days ago

Browser filter list decided "fascist mechanism" was more appropriate there lmao

Not on TERF Island but I assume they mean only the most cis passing ones stay and everyone else is treated inhumanely?

That seems to be exactly the angle they're going for...

And yet Labour is still being outflanked from the left on trans issues by fucking Christian fundie Ann Widdecombe. A Labour MP even called her woke on Twitter for this. agony-consuming

Only surprising bit is that the right wing Reform is being better than Labor

the myth of the clean Scottish nation

[–] jack@hexbear.net 15 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

just uwu little nation, sooo cowonized, not like the UK formed via a peaceful merger of the crowns and the scots played a key partnership role in every single imperial venture the english undertook in the last 400 years

Meanwhile...

[–] Keld@hexbear.net 13 points 2 days ago (1 children)

It's pretty irresponsible to post this without noting that Farage immediately repudiated the idea.

seems like he did a back-switcheroo yesterday?

cwAsked if he agreed with Ms Frake’s stance, Mr Farage said on Monday: “I personally never worked in a prison, so I can’t answer [that].

“But I think you’ll find that the answer that you’ll get from somebody who has worked in prisons at the highest possible level is, I think basically it’s about risk assessment.”

In April, the Supreme Court ruled that trans women are not legally women under the Equality Act. The judgment means trans women can legally be excluded from women’s prisons.

In his response on Tuesday morning, Mr Farage linked to a video he uploaded on the day of the Supreme Court ruling in which he stated: “At last the lunacy is over. The Supreme Court has declared that a woman is somebody who is biologically born a woman.

he has not, he''s still transphobic https://xcancel.com/Nigel_Farage/status/1952673173587055002

Farage will always default to the most regressive most bigoted position because that is his entire career and he does not have to actually implement policy, so whatever is proposed he'll be one step more bigoted.

[–] plinky@hexbear.net 7 points 2 days ago

No I meant according to torygraph excerpt he was like for 1 (one)day listen to experts, and then back to unbridled hatred

[–] TraschcanOfIdeology@hexbear.net 15 points 2 days ago (1 children)

The fact that reform is a party born out of opposing everything established politicians stand for in Britain makes them less transphobic than the usual British politician.

[–] Keld@hexbear.net 7 points 2 days ago

They're not. Farage was out hours after clarify that he didn't want "Men in women's prisons".

"sorry you didn't pass our test, I guess you're going to the Marylon Manson room"

[–] LeninsBeard@hexbear.net 6 points 2 days ago

All prisons must maintain at least one dedicated phrenologist on staff
