It activates the same chemicals in your brain as cocaine! not-built-for-this

Well, yeah, there are only ~~three~~^[@Neuromancer49@midwest.social corrected me] a few neurotransmitters. That's not saying much.

You know what else activates those chemicals? Practically everything. When scientists breed "knockout" mice without dopamine, the mice just stand there until they die of thirst, because there is no reward for.... living.

It contains more germs than a toilet seat! NOOOOO

Germs like moist surfaces. We don't want germs on our toilets, which is why we make them out of porcelain, which is hard, dry, non-porous, and easy to clean.

If it had more germs than your colon, then I would be concerned.

they used this on that Gordon Ramsay secret service shit because the guy was cutting ribs on a band saw that looked like it hadn't been cleaned in forever

im not going to go out and test this because it's still gross but I'm pretty sure they freaked the fuck out over nothing. If they were cutting ribs on it and contaminating them and putting them into refrigeration to let shit grow that'd be one thing, but it looked like they were cutting the ribs and then going straight to grilling them

Im like 99% sure that anything getting from the band saw to the ribs was being cooked but Gordon dramatically kicked everyone out of the restaurant "before it kills someone"

was being cooked

Not at a pretty normal cooking temp of 60 degrees C

Barely makes a dent in the parasites as it is

I am really pretty almost 100% sure that the surface of the meat, which is what the band saw potentially contaminated, would be reaching temperatures far above 60C. You're not going to get maillard reactions necessary to develop flavor (which require temps in the hundreds, which is why they don't happen if shit's too wet and water has to boil off first) and the whole thing isn't going to be considered "cooked" until it's at that temp or above internally

Is it gross? Yes. Would it kill someone if served? I really, really, really doubt it, unless they're immunocompromised to the point that whatever potential bacterial spores might have survived cooking could proliferate inside of them.

I just think it's a case of "this is really nasty and if you're prepping meat and putting it into refrigeration then you absolutely will kill someone," not an instance where Gordon Ramsay needs to be theatrically ejecting everyone from the restaurant because they're all gonna die
