Image is from the Wikipedia article on the Sudanese Civil War.

Al-Fashir, the capital of North Darfur (a little east of that deep red zone in the west of the megathread map), is the last major holdout of the Sudanese government in that state, and is currently under siege by the RSF. Losing it would be a significant blow to the SAF, though given how the conflict lines are shaping up, it seems increasingly plausible that there will be a de facto - if not de jure - partition of Sudan, unless the military situation substantially changes. This is because the RSF have been pushed out of central Sudan, while the SAF are being pushed out of Western Sudan - although, the situation is pretty complex and has been known to change rapidly before.

As has been a constant feature of the Sudan Civil War - perhaps the single worst humanitarian crisis on the planet right now when measured by numbers - the civilian situation pales in comparison to the military situation, with hundreds of thousands of children dead from famine, and tens of millions of people experiencing extreme food insecurity.

Al-Fashir has been the destination of many thousands of refugees fleeing genocide, and food and aid supplies into the town are being explicitly blocked by the RSF, resulting in scenes similar to what is happening in Gaza right now. The big difference is that fleeing from major battle zones is at least somewhat of an option, though people are often caught and robbed or enslaved or trafficked while moving to neighbouring towns and cities - and these cities are often experiencing similar conditions to places that refugees are leaving.

Someone just gave the worst argument in favor of 1M1V of all time at the DSA Convention right now. It was so bad the entire room started booing them lmao.

They basically said that if you oppose 1M1V you support Jim Crow, Slavery and Apartheid. It was bizarre.

The dsa convention sounds fun lol

If you ask what is the 1M1V is this

Trump is talking about "swapping territories" during the Ukraine peace talks (NOT as part of a final deal).

Unironically Russia should say "you withdraw first" and then launch an offensive as soon as they do. Embrace the Rules Based Order.

Several million US-born teenagers have just appeared out of nowhere

spoiler

For the Trump administration, one bright spot in last week’s dismal US jobs report was that immigrants had it worst. Jobs held by foreign-born individuals fell by 237,000 year-on-year in July, while jobs for native-born Americans rose by nearly 2mn.

Labor secretary Lori Chavez-DeRemer told Fox News: “While we could have seen better jobs numbers, right now we’re seeing American workers are being put first — native-born workers account for all of the job growth and that’s key.”

But is that really what’s happening? Here’s an interesting spot from UBS economists Jonathan Pingle and Alan Detmeister.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics’ household survey, America’s native-born population aged 16 and over has increased by 3mn in the last seven months. Overall population growth in the same period was 1.1mn.

This doesn’t make a whole heap of sense. Any increase in the 16-plus native-born population this year would imply either a higher US birth rate in 2009 or a sudden increase in Boomer longevity. But US birth rates have been trending steadily lower since 2006 while post-pandemic deaths are back on the long-term trend:

The BLS asks around 40,000 people each month whether they and members of their household were born in the US or elsewhere. It’s a self-reported measure whose results are not weighted.

There’s no follow-up question as to whether foreign-born respondents are in the US legally. Nevertheless, what appears to have happened is that people who’d previously identified as foreign-born have suddenly changed their minds. Amid the largest deportation operation in US history, a lot of US residents may have become less willing to tell a government employee with a clipboard about where they and their family are from.

🟡🟢 Head of the Loyalty to the Resistance Bloc, Hezbollah MP Haj Mohammed Raad: — I say: death before handing over the weapons—“they can go and pave the sea.” (Arabic idiom meaning “let them do the impossible”).

To say “hand over your weapons” is to say “hand over your honor.” Handing over the weapons is suicide, and we do not intend to commit suicide.

The issue is not about the weapons, but about dragging Lebanon into reconciliation with "israel."

The Americans and the “israelis” insist on a set timetable to implement what they dictated to the government, because time is not in their favor.

The decision to withdraw weapons exposes the arena to the enemy for tampering with internal stability, and the goal may be to turn it into an internal problem instead of a Lebanese-“israeli” problem.

We support extending the authority of the state and restricting arms to it when it is capable of repelling the occupation, forcing it to withdraw, and protecting the country.

I told those in power: if we hand over weapons, can you guarantee that the “israeli” won’t demand something else? He told me: “We’ll see when the time comes.”

I want security and stability, but under the government’s decision I can guarantee nothing, and it is the one that decided to open the door to internal tension.

We are keen on peace, but after this decision we do not know what guarantee there is for civil peace. The decision is dangerous—how can we guarantee its repercussions?

The master of the martyrs of the nation is a message and a divine blessing, and may God help us fulfill our pledge to him.

The New York Times reports that Trump has ordered the Pentagon to draw up plans for military action against drug cartels classified as terrorist groups in Latin America. The newspaper says that incursions by the US armed forces could take place by land and sea. The report cites cartels in Mexico and Venezuela that have been classified as foreign terrorist groups by the US.

There are already USian soldiers and mercenaries in Peru and Ecuador, it's only a matter of time before they get killed by these guys:

The Militarized Communist Party of Peru (Spanish: Militarizado Partido Comunista del Perú, MPCP) is a political party and militant group in Peru that follows Marxism–Leninism–Maoism and participates in the communist insurgency in Peru.

Communist Party of Ecuador – Red Sun (Spanish: Partido Comunista de Ecuador - Sol Rojo, PCE-SR), also known as Puka Inti (Quechua for "Red Sun") is a Marxist–Leninist–Maoist group in Ecuador.

In an audio message recorded by high-ranking party member Comrade Vilma, Vilma called on the party's militants to support China and Russia against "the United States and its NATO allies through the unjust fifth super-imperialist world war" and stated that Xi and the CCP had "never abandoned Maoism."

Reuters: U.S. secures strategic transit corridor in Armenia-Azerbaijan peace deal

Trump will be hosting Armenian PM Nikol Pashinyan and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev to sign a peace treaty that will establish a long-proposed Zangezur Corridor through Armenia, connecting Azerbaijan to its exclave Nakhchivan (and thus Turkey). The corridor will fall under Armenian law but will be operated by the US through private military contractors and private corporations. It will also seemingly be right along the Iranian border, both effectively cutting off Iran from it's only land route to Russia and giving the US yet another area of operation from which it can attack and infiltrate Iran.

[–] FALGSConaut@hexbear.net 26 points 1 day ago (2 children)

How long until America fights Iran to the last Armenian?

[–] Euergetes@hexbear.net 17 points 1 day ago

Armenia wouldn't fight Azerbaijan to prevent their own ethnic cleansing they're not going to fight Iran

[–] mkultrawide@hexbear.net 14 points 1 day ago

It's more likely that Azerbaijan and possibly Turkey would be fighting if there is a ground war.

[–] redchert@lemmygrad.ml 25 points 1 day ago

And so Armenia firmly falls into the us sphere. Iran was the last country that was sympathetic to the continuation of the armenian people.

[–] plinky@hexbear.net 11 points 1 day ago

They can attack through azerbaijan anyway, so that’s whatever, those are doggies of turkey/entity/nato anyway. armenians are hilarious tho, top-notch vassal politics. Hope iran gets 100 nukes tho

🔴 The Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine mourns two of its commanders, Mohammed Khalil Washah (Abu Khalil), a member of the General Central Committee, and field commander Mufid Hassan Hussein.

Both were martyred yesterday in a treacherous zionist assassination operation on the road between Syria and Lebanon.

Abu Khalil, born in Gaza in 1954, joined the PFLP in 1973 and was imprisoned by "israel" for five years. Mufid Hassan Hussein, born in Yarmouk camp, Syria in 1973, originally from Safed, Palestine, joined the PFLP in 1990.

Glory to the martyrs.

Bloomberg: US and Russia Plan Truce Deal to Cement Putin’s Gains in Ukraine

Putin is demanding that Ukraine cede its entire eastern Donbas area to Russia as well as Crimea [...]

Russia would halt its offensive in the Kherson and Zaporizhzhia regions of Ukraine along the current battlelines as part of the deal [...]

The agreement aims essentially to freeze the war and pave the way for a ceasefire and technical talks on a definitive peace settlement, the people said.

Seems like Bloomberg has been acting as a mouthpiece for the US State Department to steer the narrative on the peace deal.

I assume they are simply reporting the US's pie-in-the-sky terms. These would be completely unacceptable to Russia, especially if there's no demilitarization and neutrality guarantee.

[–] Lovely_sombrero@hexbear.net 42 points 1 day ago (2 children)

These are great terms for the US, but terrible for Ukraine. Remember extremely early on in the war, when Ukraine almost signed a deal with Russia that was insanely better for them (loss of Crimea and no NATO guarantee, but they could join the EU), but Biden urgently sent Boris Johnson to Ukraine to tell them that they are not allowed to make a deal?

[–] jack@hexbear.net 39 points 1 day ago (1 children)

These are great terms for the US, but terrible for Ukraine.

I think anything but terrible terms for Ukraine have been out the window since 2014

when Ukraine almost signed a deal with Russia that was insanely better for them

Not really, some of those terms were just complete capitulation. Yes Ukraine would only lose control of separatist areas of Donetsk and Luhansk compared to now where more territory is under Russian control, but Ukraine would have been effectively demilitirised. Standing army of 50 000-100 000, and limits on Ukraine only being allowed 10 combat helicopters and missiles with a maximum range of 40km were the terms discussed, along with security guarantees that Russia itself could veto with NATO out of the picture.

[–] redchert@lemmygrad.ml 27 points 1 day ago

Russia would dejure lose territory in this peace deal. This basically the us dream scenario, With the rest Donbass which is already destined to fall in a few months to russia as a boon. Crimea also has been annexed since 2014, this isnt an concession, as well.

The biggest "victory" which ukraine could get is losing the 4 oblasts (+crimea) and not being allowed to join NATO.

[–] MarmiteLover123@hexbear.net 5 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

I can definitely see it happening on the territory side. Back at the start of these 2025 negotiations, the US offer was to freeze the conflict at the current frontlines, while Russia wanted to have complete control of Donetsk, Kherson, Luhansk and Zaporizhzhia, including territory still under the control of Ukraine . This was the impasse last time. For negotiations to resume, Russia will need to compromise more, so freezing the frontlines at Kherson and Zaporizhzhia, while asking for full control of Donetsk and Luhansk, could be such a compromise. I know I'm a broken record on this topic, but I've been saying for months that Russia giving up on the full capture of Kherson would be a likely compromise.

Though I wonder how a territory exchange will work. Luhansk is basically almost fully under Russian control, but Donetsk is not, Ukraine still control a significant chunk of the western part. And Russia don't control enough territory in Kharkiv to exchange with Ukraine for all of Donetsk on a 1:1 ratio, it would be a very lobsided exchange, Russia would be getting a lot more territory in Donetsk than Ukraine would be getting in Kharkiv.

India halts US arms purchases over Trump tariffs: Report | The Cradle

Palestinian factions condemn the “cabinet” plan to occupy Gaza and impose full “security control.”

⚫️ Palestinian Islamic Jihad treated the decision as a complete escalation of genocide, fearing more massacres. They described it as “Nazi-style terror" and held Arab and Western governments, alongside the U.S., responsible for enabling escalation. They stated the occupation torpedoed all exchange talks and “those betting on a settlement got slapped.” They vowed to continue resistance.

⚪️ The Mujahideen Movement stressed continuity, stating that this is the same ethnic cleansing war of the last ~2 years. They blamed full U.S. cover and global paralysis for the new plan. They also accuse the enemy of gambling with its own captives for Netanyahu’s personal agenda. They asserted that resistance weapons the people’s trust and called the Arab-Islamic street to mass mobilization.

⚔️ Popular Resistance Committees casted the plan as proof of the enemy’s political and battlefield failure. They issued a sharp red line: any foreign force stepping into Gaza will be treated as an occupying enemy. They affirmed that “the day after” is decided by Palestinians themselves and insisted that captives can only be freed through negotiations, as the army has already failed. Directed towards the Palestinian Authority, they urged them to end reliance on the U.S./‘international legitimacy,’ end division, and unite. They also called the region to general mobilization and to besiege U.S/zionist/Western embassies.

🟢 Hamas focused on Gaza City. They called the plans to occupy it and evacuate 1 million residents a war crime. They highlighted the linguistic gymnastics between “control” vs. “occupation” as a tacit admission of Geneva convention violations. Hamas stated that this move sacrifices the enemy’s captives and explains the occupation’s sudden walkout from near-final talks. Hamas showed real flexibility, even openness to a comprehensive all-for-all exchange that ends the war and lifts the siege. They blamed the U.S. for cover and arms and urged UN/ICJ/ICC to act. They warned any further invasion would be met with resistance.

Crypto comrades (I know youre out there)

I recently got into tracking charts for commodities in order to get a more complete picture for what is happening in the world of finance capital. Does anyone have a good explanation for this 20% Cryptocurrency expansion over the past month? What nefarious things are happening?

Basically the chart shows that the value of the combined total of all crypto currencies has increased about 30% since a low in mid June 2025 (after the 12 day war) which is 900 billion USD.

Bitcoin is also "worth" almost 120,000 US dollars now 😳

I've also seen people discuss that the US government is propping up the "tether" "stablecoin" because it pumps up the Cryptocurrency market. I dont even know where to look to find good analysis of it besides a Ben Norton video. Is there any good articles I can read more on this?

I'm trying to get a better understanding of this global AI-compute Genocide bubble that is sustaining the empire in the midst of what is clearly an enormous crisis of imperialism.

[–] xiaohongshu@hexbear.net 28 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

Crypto, like gold, is just a store of value. It’s the latest flashy version of gold, and a speculative asset that has little to no bearing to how the modern monetary system is run.

People run to crypto (and gold) because of the economic uncertainty at the moment, especially with Trump’s erratic behavior, so they try to park their money in some form of assets.

When the US runs into a recession, both gold and crypto will lose value, for the simple reason that people will convert their assets back into cash to sustain their livelihood. You’re not going to make money investing in crypto unless you can earn a profit with the capital gains tax paid and assuming the asset, which is highly speculative, will not lose value because the US will never enter a recession, which is impossible considering the instability of a capitalist economy.
