Seeing the whole "Black Americans vs. Africans vs. Afro-Caribbeans" infighting thing online and looking at it like:
Ethnic Minorities and People of Color
Official Title of this Community: Ethnic Minorities and People of Color
Why is the title different?
We like to have fun here.
What is this place? A safe space for underrepresented peoples and peoples of color to talk, chill, and vibe.
What are the basic rules of the community?
-
Follow Lemmy TOS and Community Guidelines. Non negotiable. This is the bedrock and mods will make decisions with this always in mind.
-
This community is for ethnic minorities and people of color. This is a safe space where such people can freely discuss their struggles, insight, and thoughts without fear. If you are not, we respectfully ask you do not post or comment here. A future community will be established to allow for racial discussions with a mixed userbase. However, remember, comments here must still respect Lemmy TOS and Community Guidelines.
-
Irony Racism is still racism. Racism is bad m'kay? We will treat irony racism and bad faith racist satire as racism. Will wield the ban hammer accordingly.
-
No sectarianism: This is an identity channel not a channel for you all to complain about why XYZ isn't the "one true leftism". Take that to another place.
-
Stupidpol is not allowed. Stupidpol is class reductionist. We are an identity community. Thinking like stupidpol ignores the struggles of the oppressed, their voices, and their need for unique support. Nothing says oppression more than someone saying that the identity you have is "not real" and that if you only thought like them you'd see what your "real" identity is. Mods reserve the right to ban users and content who promote stupidpol, stupidpol memes, and other class reductionist thinking.
FAQ
I don't look XYZ and/or sometimes I can pass as white so I don't know if I can post here. Can I?
-
This place is for ethnic minorities and people of color. This includes those of mixed heritage and those who may be "white" but are of an ethnicity that is a minority in their area (i.e. Kurds, etc) If you've experienced oppression due to your identity that is not based on sexual / gender identification, you are welcome here.
-
Moreover, for our American audience, we have people from around the world who are "white" but are oppressed due to being a minority in their country. They are and should be welcomed here.
What can I post?
- Anything you think is relevant to the mission of this community. Things will evolve over time.
- Topics and things relevant to EM and POC.

I don't understand this, either. It happens in other ethnic groups (mine included). Whitey does not care about who came from where, only that you have one drop of non-white blood. You will be treated the same with complete disregard.
Just look at how non-Arabs were treated after 9/11. Whitey couldn't keep his racism focused on one group. He used it as an excuse to target Sikhs, Persians, and more.
Diaspora wars have a great way of coming up every single month somehow, i know cias behind it but god damn does it get frustrating
Bruh how is that happening?
It's because they see another image of themselves through a white producer, believe it and try to disassociate from it, their egos blind them from learning about each other, and so apply their understanding to the results of the other, "why are they shooting at each other? we don't do that over here there must be something wrong with them" "why are they selling drugs? we don't do that over here there must be something wrong with them" "why are they living in huts? we don't do that over here there must be something wrong with them" they didn't learn this from their experience, they didn't learn it from talking to people from there, they didn't learn it from a book, they learned it from the same screen.

Western media and its consequences have been a brainrot on the human race.
The amount of shit I've seen is crazy and not just the FBA vs ADOS shit. The horners vs others. The xenophobic shit between African countries including mine online. The amount of white supremacist talking points to put the other down I see is like two eunuchs arguing over who has a bigger dicks. Utterly pointless.
Is this the ADOS and FBA stuff I keep hearing about but don't really get?
Yup
Discussions about colonialism should be put in the same level as discussion about the earth being flat or not, There's a clear scientific and real side and another one that is delusional but also racist.
Its like the stunning amount oc Holocaust denial thats around the net. They're always just asking questions but they only want 1 answer. And its always the worst answer
Fr!!!
Always the fucking lectures from white idiots who never picked up a book.
The book they do pick up:
Everytime I see this joker I see why he is a failed screenwriter.
God, that is SO cringe!! I would die from even reading that ironically. Even if you're not an ML Stalin worshipper, how the fuck do you not see how EMBARRASSING that shit is?
lmao
Repubs doing gerrymandering which is clearly racially motivated and many still treat this shit like a difference of opinion. The brainwashing is real.
Sometimes I’ll read posts in anglo-left spaces and realize I’m much more socially conservative compared to them. You could say I’m a product of my culture having lived in a small rural town for as long as I have. I make an effort to educate myself more with sites like this but occasionally I do come across some posts that make me reflexively roll my eyes.
All the news of ICE and shit is worrying my mom more and more, told her we're gonna look after each other but damn living in is awful.
Trying to recognize all the races from disco elysium is kind of a challenge but I'm getting it. Definitely stealing the phrase "ham sandwich race" that shit is so on point for
Its close to the name brits have for chud english (gammon) which is a type of ham
I know the one and I fucking love that saying, gammons really do be the most ham shaded of pink/red it's incredible
sang for a Black vegan queen today
it was nice
Romance lives!
Sent the aforementioned Black vegan queen a pic where I show off my
arms
She really liked it, and I was shocked when she said "Hey hey 🥰" in response to it.
Damn, is this rizz? I guess I can be hawt.
She sent me a kiss too 😘
I just saw an Instagram reel where a South Asian man, presumably one living in a Western country, spoke about the hardships of interracial dating, particularly being a POC dating a white person.
In the comments, a white woman responded to this post with something along the lines of, "I don't disagree, but, similarly, straight women experience all of these problems in the context of misogyny because men don't experience sexism, so they can't understand their struggles!", and it seemed like she was tokenizing WOC because she also added, "And Black women dating white men experience this twofold!" or some shit like that.
Here's the thing: the contents of her comment were not necessarily wrong, but I don't get good faith vibes from it. It seems like a typical derailment used by white women who cannot stand the thought of opposing oppression besides the ones they personally face. Her comment got over 200 likes or something around there, and there were 7 positive replies to it (usually just stuff like clapping emojis) before I had to be the 8th reply and the first to call it out. I got a fair amount of likes, but after I commented, I just muted notifications because I don't wish to engage further. It's not worth it.
But what I ultimately see as the beneficial takeaway of all of this is the validation of these key beliefs of mine:
- My skepticism of most "leftists" is totally justified.
- My skepticism of white people is totally justified.
- My refusal to ever date out again is totally justified.
Sometimes, especially in this gaslighting white supremacist world, I feel like I'm being "dramatic" with said skepticism, but I'm beginning to know with more and more confidence that I'm really not.
Update: After further backlash and criticism, she deleted her comment, lmao
It was around 600 likes or something when she did. My comment got a bit over 100, I think.
So called least racist country
The Entity is mocking at us...
The world is a bloody stage to them
First. Have a great week, Comrades!
Well, thank you
I'll try.
Idk if anyone follows Lacrosse but the Seneca Nation just acquired the Rochester Knighthawks. Pretty interesting development for them.
What do people think would be the safest areas to be in the US in the event of a nuclear attack, other than under your school desk?
I was thinking maybe some cities near the Canadian and Mexican borders since it's likely the other country wouldn't want to peripherally hit the other countries as well, but maybe once nukes start flying that type of calculation is off the table. I'm guessing midwest is fucked since they have silos in those areas, right? Hawaii and Puerto Rico are probably fine. Maybe some random places, National Parks and such?
Anyway, yeah, just some typical Monday doomsday hypotheticals!
Las Vegas, Mr. House will protect it
I can't wait to be reincarnated into a tribe being ~~colonized~~ employed by 1950s white America man to earn profits for a military autocracy and take advantage of the local area as a hegemonic power.
potentially border towns but some like san diego may be a target for other bombing due to the bases there. thank god most other countries seem to understand what a civilian is and tend to just strike strategic installations so even then you should be fine and it’s a quick trip over to the amazing city of tijuana
I would love to visit both someday, seem nice. I would expect cities with silos (I don't put it past the US to secretly have nukes in some city) or bases to be targeted even with citizens around.
There are some cities like in Texas that are so close to cities in Mexico that I would assume Mexico would get involved if the US sister city was nuked, but again maybe that wouldn't really be a concern at that point.
