well tell us you observations. what's better, what's worse?

[โ€“] Nebula@fedia.io 9 points 3 days ago

Pros: Much more features (Microblogging, following people, reposting ("boosts"),..

Neutral: Closer to Reddit (Karma "reputation" points, profile pages), less minimalistic

Cons: AFAICan tell, not much, the android app isn't as good as voyager, not many people using mbins features limits them currently.

I like it so far. Fedia.io is application only (I got approved in a few hours), kbin.earth is open if you want to try it.

This is why you hear lots of attacks on the European Union from corporate media.

[โ€“] nuko147@lemmy.world 35 points 3 days ago (1 children)

And lets be fair, with those politicians that we have, big corps and their media succeed many times.

[โ€“] Sunshine@lemmy.ca 27 points 3 days ago

Especially with the law that would've banned nasty chemicals in personal hygiene products.

And why you don't really see major conglomerations openly fighting back against EU regulations, only individual companies. Because they are scared to death of the EU fines that are based on percentage of total revenue.

Something like the main Samsung company getting hit with one of the big fines would literally alter global economy, either way. Since the payment would be enourmous, and if they refuse to pay they'd be blocked from operating in the EU.

It is almost like having strong consumer protection rights means the corporations can't do what they want. No, must be socialism! /s

[โ€“] v4ld1z@lemmy.zip 10 points 3 days ago (1 children)

grrr socialism ๐Ÿ‘Š๐Ÿป

[โ€“] onlyhall@aussie.zone 12 points 3 days ago

those dastardly socialists. Always looking out for the little guy. How dare they??

US congress is filled with rats

Is Nintento one of the companies that can't Stop Killing Games?

[โ€“] Sunshine@lemmy.ca 24 points 3 days ago

Yup, they're on the list.

meanwhile i'll keep using my steam deck which is the best switch player i've seen.

[โ€“] seathru@lemmy.sdf.org 44 points 3 days ago (1 children)

"This is an outrage!" buys it anyways

[โ€“] Sunshine@lemmy.ca 27 points 3 days ago (1 children)

It's sad how the anti-consumer Nintendo Switch 2 caught up to the Steam Deck in total units sold within the span of weeks.

[โ€“] seathru@lemmy.sdf.org 26 points 3 days ago

Kind of apples an oranges. I consider myself a fairly avid gamer. I have a massive steam library but no steam deck; I could not care less about portable gaming. I have a switch for exclusive titles that I play solely in it's dock on my TV.

So, as a statistic, I own a switch but no steam deck. But in reality, I have spent orders of magnitude more money on steam than with Nintendo.

[โ€“] AstaKask@lemmy.cafe 23 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Not buying anything Nintendo. The people who work there suck. I don't like giving money to shitty people.

[โ€“] sommerset@thelemmy.club 2 points 3 days ago

It's our government that are a bunch of rats and kill every data privacy legislation

[โ€“] bathing_in_bismuth@sh.itjust.works 27 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Another EU win. Can we stop winning? We could, but we dont

[โ€“] tiramichu@sh.itjust.works 22 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago) (1 children)

It's important not to take things for granted, though. The same bullshit that enriches corporations (and corrupt politicians) at the cost of individuals can happen anywhere with a little complacency and a few bad elections.

It was tongue in cheek, EUP tried many times to kill privacy and encryption for example. Part lucky, part strong opposition. They tried to sneak it through many times now

[โ€“] barnaclebutt@lemmy.world 30 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago)

Nintendo walks a lot of thin lines right now. For instance, you basically have to use Nintendo docks because of their USBC fuckery. I doubt that is allowed in the EU. Also, has someone from the EU's console been banned for using the MIG switch?

[โ€“] Dirk@lemmy.ml 29 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Because in Europe we actually own our hardware.

[โ€“] hoshikarakitaridia@lemmy.world 23 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Coming to games as well soon TM. Stop killing games covered lots of ground this month.

[โ€“] rfr_Foglia@feddit.it 17 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Hope it reaches 1.4 millions before the due date

[โ€“] treasure@feddit.org 8 points 3 days ago

It is very much on track to do so, currently we're still looking at 9-10k signatures a day. If this doesn't slow down a lot till the deadline, we might even reach 1.5 million.

[โ€“] Gearheart@lemmy.world 7 points 3 days ago

So.... All the stolen switch 2's will be sold in Europe then?

[โ€“] hash@slrpnk.net 12 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Wonder what happens if you sell a bricked switch to someone in the EU? Is there some mechanism to make it work again?

[โ€“] markz@suppo.fi 13 points 3 days ago

I'd imagine that's on the seller, not nintendo.

[โ€“] Gaylactus@lemmy.world 8 points 3 days ago (1 children)
[โ€“] jol@discuss.tchncs.de 15 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Nintendo can't brick mine because I refuse to buy another Switch...

[โ€“] cRazi_man@europe.pub 3 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago)

Nintendo can't ban me. I've already banned them. I'm going to copy their stuff even harder. I'm going to make 5 copies on my PC they lose 5 times the money. I'm going to make Nintendo charachter fan art and party Nintendo music. That'll show em
