Seems like the best time to let someone else take the wheel is while you're trying to shoot at the car full of gangoons chasing you. Too bad auto-drive is disabled during combat.
holy crap. autodrive is what I wanted from the get go.
FSR 3.1 AND 4 support? This is great! I thought they had adandoned non-dlss players
IIRC FSR4 is 9000 series-only.
Im gonna spend so much time with that Auto-Drive feature!
i hope stability improves. I've been playing on nobara these past 2 weeks and it was fine until I got further into the game, now it crashes every few minutes.
Have you tried a different compatibility layer version? E.g. proton, ge proton, etc
yeah I've tried every compatibility layer under the sun. proton, experimental, ge, the cachyos version and others, and launch options dont help either. everything yields the same results.
Added support for AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution Frame Generation 3.1 for compatible hardware. It can now be used in combination with any upscaler.
So, if I'm parsing this right, I can use it with dlss upscaler? Kinda wild. Nice to have the option, even if I'm not nescessarily going to use it. (Edit: my 3090 doesn't support dlss fakeframes). Anyway, gotta try it out and see how it do.
Updated the End User Licence Agreement. You will be asked to accept it again when you load the game after updating.
got to wonder what's changed in there. I always dread these things.
Out of curiosity, what settings do you run on your 3090?
I followed this guide to try and optimize RT, and even ran a mod that hacked in FG3.1 (which I found pretty underwhelming TBH): https://www.nexusmods.com/games/cyberpunk2077/collections/lv4wpp
And… it’s way too slow, even with copious dlss and tons of tweaking. Most I can handle is just RT reflections with all the other settings off.
1440p, dlls transformer balanced, ultra all, rt high, path tracing off. Runs fairly stable 60 fps everywhere. Dogtown streets and the market street in the arena dip noticeably tho. (Edit: one or two niche options might be one step down from max)
Edit: other specs of my system are 5800x3d, 32gb ram. Atm running on linux, but I did run it for years on win10 on same hardware
I have pretty much the same HW, thanks for recommendation. How are you running it on Linux? Never used it for gaming really.
Using heroic launcher (works essentially as gog galaxy, because gog galaxy doesn't work on linux, heh) to install/update/run the game. I also use proton-ge-custom instead of wine.
I did add some env variables to it, basically to get CET and RedExt mods to work: WINEDLLOVERRIDES=version.dll,winmm.dll,RED4ext.dll=n,b
The other env vars was just my testing of the newer ntsync features. They work, but atm performance is slightly worse than on fsync.
that's about it. it works.
I think my issue is I'm trying to push 4K. And I like pretty high averages. That's too much to ask, heh.
3090 definitely can't handle CP2077 maxed out with RT at 4k. Have to remember that even 4090s and 5090s heavily rely on DLSS upscaling and framegen to get high FPS at 4k for some games. Cyberpunk is pretty demanding, which is why it's used as a benchmark so often.
For sure.
Still, it's surprisingly usable with just RT reflections. That's good since the RT lighting and shadows are kind of a mixed bag (and the PT isn't great unless its modded, heh).
I guess I'm a bit spoiled by Unreal's Lumen, or Cryengine's similar lighting in KCD2. It is shockingly good for the framerate cost, even as a 'beta' in smaller-studio games like Satisfactory... Hence Cyberpunk 2 is switching to Unreal.
RT lighting and shadows are kind of a mixed bag
You think so? I thought it was pretty great in CP2077.
I will say Lumen is a major mixed bag for me. Didn't Black Myth use that? There were lots of lighting glitches in that game for me. KCD2 does a great job, but it can also be wonky at times. Off topic: KCD2 is an amazing game. It's a close toss-up for me between it and Clair Obscur for me for GOTY.
Another aside: I forgot to mention that I have a 3090 as well, but I run it at 1440p. Even at that resolution, I have to dial down a few settings below ultra to maintain 60fps.
Yeah I saw! I could run super mega dlss to 'simulate' 1440p I guess.

I tested the settings specifically:
-
RT reflections are just... incredible. No downside, heh, especially in rain.
-
RT shadows look worse than raster shadows in many instances, even in the demo benchmark. Raster 'misses' more shadows as a tradeoff, which I find acceptable given the performance hit, and that it's less distracting than some of RT's ugly or flickering shadows. In other words, I don't notice the missing shadows, while ugly or pop-in RT shadows are absolutely noticeable. I dunno if I'd use this even with a 5090.
-
RT lighting (not PTO, which is a whole different can of worms) is my second favorite setting. It's neat in niches, like the classic flashing against a wall from a neon sign. But it also messes up pretty often, for instance creating ugly, bloomed out splotches where neon signs should be, and where there's already raster lighting baked in (like the big Arasaka atrium in the Corpo intro).

I can't run PTO (and its its own discrete mode that turns everything else off, of course). It seems finicky to tweak to stop it from flickering or messing up lighting; you basically have to run it modded, but it seems awesome if you can.
The Digital Foundry video seems to have similar findings, though their visuals look different between all the updates and mods.
yea, 3090 sure won't do 4k rt in basically anything. I tried Cyberpunk on 4k (with the nvidia whatever resolution thingy which lets you use resolutions higher than native res), and cyberpunk basically was 30fps max on any settings. 1440p is a lot smoother ride.
Darn. Wish it fixed the iconics that could become unobtainable.
Awesome! Guess I'll need to update all my mods tonight and wait a little bit for the core mods to update.
Wow this just made me realize I've never dipped into mods on this game. I've done like 4 vanilla playthrough at this point and never thought of it. Are there any amazing content mods that add to the game? Or are most cosmetic mods? Also do you have any 'must have' mods you'd recommend?
There's absolute bonkers amounts of cosmetic mods. Most body/clothing/chrome mods depend on other mods so I just don't bother, I like to keep it rather simple.
That said; there's few mods I do recommend:
- Flashlight! https://www.nexusmods.com/cyberpunk2077/mods/2913 - sometimes I do like to go explore in the dark areas and would like to see what's in there. It's very configurable (size, brightness, falloff, color...).
- Improved textures: https://www.nexusmods.com/cyberpunk2077/mods/7652 - some vanilla textures were oddly low res, this fixes that. It does require a bit more grunt from the system, but not too much.
- AGX colorspace LUT: https://www.nexusmods.com/cyberpunk2077/mods/11622 - for most abbreviations like "AGX" and "LUT" mean nothing, but tldr; slight color adjustment (subjectively) for the better. Doesn't impact performance.
But at the end of the day: only you know what you want with mods.
Worth noting that some mods require other mods, a notable one is CyberEngineTweaks (CET). CET will crash your game if you're not running a version specifically made for the version of the game you're using -> this means that every update, regardless of how minor, will break CET, which will make game crash on launch. The dev is generally quick to update, sometimes few hours after a patch drops, sometimes within a day or two. It's not the end of the day to wait a bit, imo.
Third person mod. Makes cosmetics actually feel useful.
Thanks for the type up and links! Definitely going to check these out.
I hated the moving skill check thing so went out of my way to put that mod in. Was super frustrating to be to low on a check and leave it to level and come back for the check to now have a higher requirement.
Kinda underwhelmed. Yes, features are features, but these don't seem like a huge leap from a content perspective. My issue is they made this huge deal about it with memes and shit about 'hurr I got one more in me' but this isn't adding more missions or anything, just small things like vehicles. Which again, is fine, I just don't appreciate them building hype for it like it was some major content release.
