Why? Reddit is a cancer, let it die.
There is also no way when they go out of their way more than any other company to catch people who were banned. I don't understand the sheer level of pettiness to do that.
Welcome to !reddit. This is a community for all news and discussions about Reddit.
The rules for posting and commenting, besides the rules defined here for lemmy.world, are as follows:
Rule 1- No brigading.
**You may not encourage brigading any communities or subreddits in any way. **
YSKs are about self-improvement on how to do things.
Rule 2- No illegal or NSFW or gore content.
**No illegal or NSFW or gore content. **
Rule 3- Do not seek mental, medical and professional help here.
Do not seek mental, medical and professional help here. Breaking this rule will not get you or your post removed, but it will put you at risk, and possibly in danger.
Rule 4- No self promotion or upvote-farming of any kind.
That's it.
Rule 5- No baiting or sealioning or promoting an agenda.
Posts and comments which, instead of being of an innocuous nature, are specifically intended (based on reports and in the opinion of our crack moderation team) to bait users into ideological wars on charged political topics will be removed and the authors warned - or banned - depending on severity.
Rule 6- Regarding META posts.
Provided it is about the community itself, you may post non-Reddit posts using the [META] tag on your post title.
Rule 7- You can't harass or disturb other members.
If you vocally harass or discriminate against any individual member, you will be removed.
Likewise, if you are a member, sympathiser or a resemblant of a movement that is known to largely hate, mock, discriminate against, and/or want to take lives of a group of people, and you were provably vocal about your hate, then you will be banned on sight.
Rule 8- All comments should try to stay relevant to their parent content.
Rule 9- Reposts from other platforms are not allowed.
Let everyone have their own content.
Rule 10- Majority of bots aren't allowed to participate here. This includes using AI responses and summaries.

Remember Reddit's business model. On Reddit, users aren't the customers. Ad buyers are the customers. Users (and mods) are unpaid labor - volunteer employees who create content. Reddit uses that content to sell ads and attract eyeballs to ads.
If Reddit permabans someone, it's because the content they produce doesn't meet Reddit's standards for content. And since they assume that user will keep producing inferior content, they want that user to stay permabanned so he doesn't produce more bad content and hurt Reddit's brand. I mean, if you fired an employee for doing poor work, you wouldn't want to rehire the same employee under another name, right?
It's not pettiness. It's quality control.
Business will end us all...
...unless open source devours it first.
Also, do you have any idea how many people I gave support to?
I may not have been entertaining, but I loved listening to and supporting people on Reddit, and I laughed alongside some people.
You already found it. Welcome to something better.
You don't. If they don't want you, why stick around?
Like it or not they have a monopoly on the most active forum service. To the point where no other service is really useful when it comes to asking live questions and getting live answers for many different topics.
I actively want to destroy them for this. They are swallowing up the internet, so they gave me no choice. I will support Lemmy for this reason.
And it steals hours from your life.
If I need to go there, I use the LibRedirect extension. Read-only reddit is good enough for my needs.
Not to care and move on
Delete your accounts. Best way to stick it to them. Leave and never go crawling back to corporate shitheads.
I'm in the same boat, I did try and appeal but it went unanswered. It seems like a 9 month no use wait for the site before you can try and create a new account according to what I've read. Hopefully someone can give us some better ideas.
U need to change ur device fingerprint.
They'll instantly ban me if I post from my laptop for some reason but if I post from my phone it's fine? I'm behind a permanent VPN that's running on my router so I guess that's why?
I made my Reddit account by using the "login with Apple" feature after downloading the app on my phone and I just never make any post from my laptop not even a comment otherwise I'll be instantly banned.
Honestly I'm reading what everyone else had said in the comments and I agree it's a blessing the only reason I'm on Reddit now is because the vocaloid community there is bigger. Lemmy is a good replacement for everything else.
