I made everything but the bread. It was delicious! I could have taken a better photo but I was hungry!

This is the recipe I used.

I wasn't aware that they have a pate. I guess my area doesn't add it to their Banh Mi's.

Definitely look into it! I believe it's a holdover from French colonisation. I don't know what type is used but it is quite nice combined with the rest of the flavours.

I will definitely give that try on the next one!

You should commission this photo as a painting

Haha thanks for the complement!

Being home cooks we've made banh mi and all the creative concoctions for years, you killed it here, thanks for the recipe and links.

The first time I made it at home it felt difficult but it's really not too bad. Thank you and your welcome!

Banh mi is so good. There was a little Vietnamese cafe nextdoor to a place I used to work, I went there every workday. I saved so much money after I moved to a different location xD

[–] fujiwood@lemmy.world 3 points 1 week ago

That sounds awesome.

I have a feeling I would do the same if I had a place so close. The closest banh mi near me is a 45 minute drive so I basically have to make it myself if I want it.

Holy mother of sandwiches. Absolutely would.

It was really good 10/10. Give it a try!

Haha I decided on more filling than bread to try and keep it a little healthier.

What percentage of the sandwich filling had to be eaten with a fork afterwards? (I’m not knocking it, just curious.)

[–] fujiwood@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago

It was more like I would pick up the pieces and shove them back in the sandwich as I ate it!

It really is. It's savory, salty, sweet, fatty, sour and spicy.

Man I haven't made that for ages. Where i grew up all the shopping malls would have a guy with a little electric grill making these and they were amazing. Going to make it today for cooking tomorrow! I tend to use chicken but maybe I'll try pork thise time

[–] fujiwood@lemmy.world 1 points 1 week ago

That's awesome!

I'll try chicken next time!
