"She is the only person in the world who is compatible with herself."
Is that wording right? If I understand correctly it should say "is only compatible with herself"? or am I missing something?

Well its a negative type, so her blood can be given normally to others. If she was also o-, her blood could also be given to nearly the entire world, but the only blood she could get would be her own.
There's lots of really rare blood types. Getting a new positive type basically means you can't donate blood, getting a new negative type means you can't get it from others, but could give it.
Splitting hairs a bit but if you want to be precise here you need two 'only's in that sentence, 'she is the only person whose only compatible donor is herself'.
I love Lemmy for the users' reading skills.
Who'd have thought literacy is a valuable skill? My father, thank goodness.
This is actually word picking. However, there‘s a little difference.
She has this special blood group. And there is only one person known who is compatible. If there is another person the only is away.
If she is only compatible with herself, the only would stay, if there‘s another person with this special blood group.
So, the original writing is the correct way.
I got confused because it sounds like other people are not compatible with themselves, which sounds odd.
Okay I see. Actually the COMPATIBLE refers to the blood group not to people.
